So, it turns out the Penn State University trustee who told a publication he was “running out of sympathy” for people he described as “so-called victims” of Jerry Sandusky said Wednesday he is no longer seeking a second term on the board.
It’s a sad moment for his fellow board members, although probably not for the reason you think.
Anthony Lubrano, a fellow alumni-elected trustee and Lord ally, said Lord told him the decision not to seek another term was not related to his comments to the Chronicle.
“Of course, I’m disappointed,” said Lubrano, who deferred comment on Lord’s statements regarding Sandusky victims. “Al was the most cerebral member of the board. He’ll be missed.”
I was gonna make some crack about cerebral not meaning what Lubrano thinks it means, but, hell, the man might be right.
A Sinatra reference is always welcome, Senator.

USA Today has reported that the scandal’s cost to Penn State is approaching a quarter-billion dollars. And now a PSU trustee is “running out of sympathy” for what he terms the “so-called victims.” I can’t say with any certainty that there are others associated with PSU, perhaps even fellow trustees, who feel likewise. But it wouldn’t be at all surprising if there were. And being the cerebral man he is, Lubrano can certainly grasp that sympathy from outsiders isn’t something that has accrued to his university over the handling of the whole sordid mess. Count me as one such outsider.

I am glad that I swallowed my coffee right before reading that sentence or else I would be cleaning my monitor right now.

Is it bad that I only know that reference because of Sideshow Bob marrying Selma?

Yeah, that might put you in unique company. Could better place you if I knew what, or who, Sideshow Bob is/was.

It’s from the Simpsons

Thanks. Hate to admit I have never watched that show, or discussed it with one person. I know it has been on forever, and has a big fan base, just something I have missed out on totally. Know I should have at some point but didn’t. Pretty good memory for you to put that together.

HA! Thanks. Kelsey Grammar singing that song was the first thing that popped into my head when I read the headline.

So is being the most cerebral trustee on the PSU board akin to being the best ice hockey player in Porterdale?

I’d go with tallest midget.

A tasteless comment, but no doubt this whole thing was being drug out by people who were not involved in the slightest.
There are a lot of egregious sex crimes that happen in our country, but I doubt many (if any) of them cost $250,000,000 over several years.

The other egregious sex crimes likely didn’t involve a multimillion dollar athletic program attached to a public university enabling a current, and later former, to use his access to the program to lure in the young men he sexually abused.
