Feel the magic

From the battle of the offensive and defensive fronts in spring practice comes this gem of a quote:

As for his counterparts on offense, Patrick said offensive line coach Sam Pittman clearly has his unit fired up for each practice.

“It’s gotta be something (Pittman’s) doing,” Patrick said. “I don’t know, I’m not in the film room with them. I don’t know what he’s telling them. But he’s telling them something.”

Clearly, Pittman is a wizard.  There is no other explanation.

Maybe it really does take coaches some time to settle in before having a noticeable affect on the players. I really hope this is the case. All the things we hoped to see right way last year may began materializing this spring, summer and fall. I’m still cautiously optimistic though…I have to feed my pessimism.

Maybe this is why there is such a huge jump from year 1 to year 2 for many coaching staffs. If our OL changes dramatically…then so will the offense as a whole. The domino effect of one unit improving to another improving could help this team be much better in year two. OL improves so the QB improves so the WR improves. The D will not be out performed so they improve…the whole team confidence and mentality improves so on and etc. Man I hope this is the case.

If it’s true…if Georgia does have an aggressive and highly functioning OL, we’ll soon be drooling over the hottest Dawg porn imaginable. Don’t get to far from a shower stall.

I’m reading on another blog, about another team, coaches saying that if your offense is beating your defense in the spring….get ready for a miserable season.

I clicked over to the Alabama Dawgbone site yesterday, to check on this very thing. From what I could tell in my 30 minutes of clicking around, the Bama Offence is also dominating their Defense. Yet another way we’re trying to be “Bama East”?

Well if we were Alabama the first string would be sweating the second string and thus they would be driven to save their jobs. As we know we are not Alabama and the returning starters from last year with a few exceptions have to be self starters because the second string guys are quite a drop off. We will see if Kirby and Tucker can motivate the defense to play like their hair is on fire without the Alabama advantage. I will reserve judgement until the real bullets start to fly.

Read where Big Ben was working at RT and seemed a lot more comfortable. Also seen a pic of him on Twitter yesterday, damn he sure looks the part. If he doesn’t make it as an O lineman, he may have a future in the WWE…..

I saw that too. I would not mind seeing him pancake a defensive end and have NC27 run right up his back. Yeah buddy, that is some good Kool Aid.
