Another advanced stats dump that explains much about 2016

Bill Connelly breaks down last season’s top running backs’ statistical performances by eleven different categories.  Care to guess how many times a Georgia player’s name crops up?  Let’s just say it’s not a good number for a team that was supposedly built around the running game and leave it at that.

  2. I don’t know whether that analysis is worth the Google spreadsheet it was done on … BC admits he didn’t weight the performances by degree of competition or by the quality of the offensive line. I don’t blame any of 2016 on the combination of Chubb, Michel and Herrien.

This is what happens when you hire SOD’s former OC.

Is your point that we should have built our offense around a passing game with a frosh QB who was statistically in the bottom quintile of QB efficiency or that we had an ineffective offense?

Anyone who spend 2 minutes on cfbstats.com doesn’t need Bill Connelly’s analysis to reinforce that notion that we were terrible on offense last season. That said, we were 54th in ypa rushing and 101st in ypa passing. I am very confident that opting to run the ball more was probably the right decision, but since we went 8-5 in non-throwaway season, it must indicate that our coaches don’t have a clue what they are doing and have no hope of future success.

Gotta work with what you have, use lemons for lemonade. They/ Kirby tried to make them something what they weren’t imo. Not a good sign….hope Kirby is still not learning on the job this year.

Apparently, I don’t spend enough time on cfbstats.com. Keep crusading!

  6. Yet another reason why I suspect we will flop this upcoming season.

Our OC is not going to bring out the best of the team, imo.

I agree we will not max out on our offensive potential with Chaney but even he cannot stop us from winning the East this year. Soft schedule, loaded defense, and play makers all over the field on offense.
