Apparently Hardman the wide receiver is a thing now.
The worst kept secret became officially official on Tuesday when Georgia coach Kirby Smart said that, yes, Mecole Hardman, is now a full-time wide receiver.
“I think that’s safe to say,” Smart said. “You guys have finally cracked the egg. Mecole worked over there about 95 percent of the spring. He did a lot of work there. He did double as a DB on some occasions when we were very down on DBs in the spring.”
They have plans for him, too.
“We think Mecole’s biggest attributes will help us in the offensive slot slash return game,” Smart said. “He can do a lot of different things. We’ve got to try find a way to get him the ball, but he’s also got to find a way to protect the ball. That’s going to be a growing curve for him carrying the rock very much that Isaaiah (McKenzie) and Reggie (Davis) went through upon my arrival.”
Oh, great. He’s already lost a year before even getting started on that growing curve. Still, this sounds better than being Tripped.
I’m really excited to see him in the return game. I have lower expectations in the passing game. It’s not that I don’t think he can do well, but I don’t think he’ll touch McKenzie’s production. I also suspect he won’t be nearly as good running routes as McKenzie was (and it wasn’t like McKenzie was all world running routes).

All the practice you watched of him at WR gave you this take I suppose?

I could be wrong, of course. But to think a kid who’s only been playing WR for several months is going to be as good as a kid who played it for several years seems like a leap to me.

I’m happy they have definitively decided this and now he can 100% focus on the role. I liked what I saw in the G Day game and the dude wasn’t a 5 star for no reason. Also seems like a guy with a lot of spirit and confidence which can hopefully rub off on the rest of the offensive side and give it some juice when needed.

Thanks goodness for Smart right now. Throws some shade on the AD’s nonperforming sports programs at UGA.
The AD has a huge issue in his men’s tennis program. Felony charges against the HC’s son and his former assistant. I would say that is a big deal that could have negative vibes in the other programs. Theft of drugs from the program.
Now who purchased and received those from the assistant coach and coach’s son?

As of right now, the football program IS one of the nonperforming sports programs at Georgia. Let’s hope that changes this season.
I’m not sure Diaz has the ability to watch over every member of his staff 24/7 and his adult son.

How does the athletic program have access to medications without a physician prescription and a pharmacist to administer? Is Dr Feelgood contracted by UGA?
