After all, Greg McGarity finally came through on the indoor practice facility (thanks, Jeremy!), which is what was holding back the program from its destined greatness. All those pain in the ass bus rides and weather concerns are a thing of the past. It’s onwards and upwards from now on, peeps.

The snark is well-deserved.
But I do think it helps the whole program psychologically to not have to practice and dress for games like we’re some third-tier wannabe program.

I’m glad the IPF exists. I just wish — like everything else about the way B-M is run — that it came about as the result of proactive management, instead of McGarity’s knee-jerk reaction to public criticism.

While I wasn’t a supporter of the IPF and Pruitt made the statement he did, it changed my mind. I still think the west end zone project is a big waste of money.

Greg, you’re right. Football is an outdoor game, but when lightning is flashing around NE Georgia or a downpour makes it impossible to be able to get a good practice in, the CJPMIPF is a great alternative. Kirby talked about how Alabama would use their facility even when it was ok to practice outside. I think I remember that he said they would go indoors something like every 3rd practice during camp (once a week during the season) and crank up the temperature in the building. It’s also good for recovery when the sun and the heat become beyond oppressive.
It’s necessary now and not just for recruiting.

Not denying all of that, just saying that I do not feel the weather is enough to justify one. I mean, how many practices have been cancelled because of the inclement weather?? UF certainly went a long time without one. It is convenient & looks good, but it probably become more of a necessity once competition started to get them. I am glad we have it, I just do not believe it effects play….but it does effect recruiting imo.

One issue is artificial surface. When the Dawgs are going to play a game indoors or against a team that has an artificial surface on its field practicing at the CJPMIPF would be a Godsend. 🙂

How many bowl games and kickoff games are played in a dome? We get it … you don’t think the IPF serves any purpose other than recruiting even when people have specific examples.

LAWD!!….some sensitive folks on here. There is a key word in my original post, I think it is….”mostly”. It would be a wonderful world if everybody agreed, right?? Relax, nobody is disagreeing with you, just giving an opinion…but to answer your question on how many are played in a “dome”….I am gonna say 100% are played in domes : >) …. but if you ask me how many CF games are played in a dome versus outdoor, I am gonna say not very many. I’ll let you look up how may, be sure to break down the percent 😏

I think the point is that some are and now the Dawgs are prepared for those. Plus, damn near every preseason kickoff game is and about half the bowls are–and those are played in the late fall and winter when the weather is bad. The IPF is a good thing. Are you arguing that it isn’t?

It’s funny…I watched the G-Day game 4Q replay from the 21 minute spot yesterday based off the other post…Eason made some really nice throws. I just get this sense he is about to blow up…in a good way.

Fall camp is all about the OL and Eason. Lots of people want to bang on Chaney (and I get it to a degree) but if Eason starts hitting the wide-the-eff-open WRs that were missed in every game and the OL can get the kind of push a UGA OL should get, the offense will be much better even with the exact same play calling.
UGA needs the OL and Eason to step up.

Yes. Banging on Chaney is fun, but besides occasionally missing wide-effing-open receivers, it also occurs to me that Eason’s ability to check out a called play may have been severely limited by the fact that he was a true freshman quarterback. I’m like Mr. Fletcher, above: I believe the offense will be less constipated this year, and we’ll see some shit move.
