So, it’s come to this.

You get the feeling there’s an airplane banner flying over Sanford Stadium in somebody’s near future.

  1. Add an offensive coordinator to that, and you get my perspective on Georgia sports right now.

And a new baseball coach while we are at it.

Where is that Subway? I want to spend my money where the owner takes that stand.

I’m willing to pitch in on that airplane banner.

like I said here before, Greg was a quick fix to the Ransom of Red Panties mess…since he sat at the right hand of the Master AD (Jeremy Foley) he was thought to be a sure thing…so much for fame by association and not by achievement…

Plus he was a safe bet on the moral side…Greg comes across as a bit of a teetotaler (women included) but hell I thought Freeze was pure as the driven snow, too…missed on that one

Let him stay 4-5 more years then offer the job to Richt. I thought it was time for him to go at UGA as coach but he’d be a great fit as AD after 5-6 years. The dude wants to win, familiar with the power structure, universally respected, has a sneaky edge to him, and is the best ambassador for a university that exists. By then, he’ll be 61 and probably more tired than he is now, the natives will probably be getting restless in Miami, most of the coaches around during his tenure will be gone so few personal relationships to cloud judgement, and he is about the only personality in college sports magnanimous enough to handle the situation. Plus he’d get to last laugh Greg.

I know it’s not going to happen for a myriad of reasons but let me dream damnit.

  7. All kidding aside…maybe the previous App State AD would like a pay bump: he’s now at Georgia State….here’s a brief resume……3 NC’s (football) , countless conference titles, moved his school from FCS to FBS, oversaw a major stadium reno..and all in less than ten years…..just bubble gum for the brain. We could get him for a bargain too…$300k at Georgia State.

Be careful what you wish for. Carla Williams will be the next AD at Georgia. The university will want to show how progressive and liberal and inclusive it is and nothing will send that message as loudly as hiring a black woman as AD at a traditional SEC school. If she came out as a lesbian, the university might fire McGarity that day in order to hire her.

    • Sounds like you’re more troubled by her gender and race than you are about her being yet another product of the Georgia Way.

I get what he’s saying. Being diverse and inclusive on merit is good. Being diverse and inclusive solely to prove your progressiveness is the pavement in which the road to hell is paved.

I’m mostly troubled by her current position and the vigor with which she does her job. She seems to be in charge of denying admission to as many athletes as possible.

Her gender and race are the reasons she will be hired and, yes, that does trouble me. I’d much prefer we hire an AD who is chosen because they will be focused on Georgia winning championships with no regard to their race, gender, sexual orientation, political correctness, etc..

        • Her gender and race are the reasons she will be hired…

If she’s McGarity’s successor, it’ll be because she knows how to execute the company line down to the last bit of punctuation.

GTP bloggers contribute to a airplane banner ,now that’s an idea!!!
