From the New York Times’ look at The Bitter Southerner (among other South-oriented publications):
After nearly going under during the recession, Garden & Gun’s bimonthly issues are now fat, thanks to the humming economy and the avoidance of a list of topics, once enumerated by the editor in chief, David DiBenedetto, that might offend its readers: “politics, religion and SEC football.” (Don’t hold them to the last one.)
At least now I know what I’m doing wrong here.
Doing nothing wrong. Carry on.

“After nearly going under during the recession,” … like the old, grey lady didn’t sell every one of its assets to survive the recession.
The NY Times also nearly went under during the recession.

If GTP were about the revenue, we all know you could change your headlines to “UGA QB controversy takes hold!” and force us to click and/or watch an ad to get to the content.
Not a suggestion! Just and observation…

You’re doing nothing wrong Senator; I still read every post here.
I used to like The Bitter Southerner when it was about southern stuff. I quit reading when it became about racism and how TBS was going to diagnose and cure us all.

Read through a Garden and Gun at a doctor’s office. The Martha Stewart vibe was just too much.

I enjoy G&G’s stuff about restraints etc, especially BBQ joints and some of the info on vacation spots. That said,it reads like a bunch Yankees giving us their version of the South. The Bitter Southerner is hipster bullshit.

Well, not all of them. Just the ones that have decided that they know what is wrong with the south and have taken it upon themselves to “fix it” for everyone.

I have no problem with hippies. I’ve been accused of being one. Mostly because I favor long hair and a beard but still. Hippies are normally nothing if not nice. Hipsters are assholes who never get over trying to be cool.
