Herbie’s just tryin’ to help, y’all.

You know, I’m really beginning to enjoy the hell out of Ohio State’s season.

Speaking of schadenfreude, everyone please do your duty and click on the GT Basketball ads on this site… I can’t be the only one getting them. Love the idea of our Senator making a few bucks on the back of the bugs.

Would love to be a fly on the wall if freshman lineman walked into Jim Harbaugh or Kirby Smart’s office to tell them how they should handle their quarterbacks.

Penn State will be Big Ten champs. And I’ll be loving every minute of it.

I wont. Penn State doesn’t deserve to win anything until 2052 at the earliest. And as someone who has quite a few relatives who are Penn Staters, they still feel they did nothing wrong, and JoePa is still the paragon of virtue.

It’s not that I’ll be happy for PSU. I’ll just think it’s funny if they are Big Ten Champs.

But I’ve got a weird sense of humor.

I’m other words, I would love seeing PSU win not because I love PSU but because I hate the Big Ten and I believe that would actually be bad for their conference. Because in conjunction with a conversation about PSU’s return to national prominence we also will inevitably get to highlight what a national disgrace they are.

I should have clarified all that.

I’ve talked about my connection to PSU for quite a while – my BIL and cousin are both PSU grads. I also live in the mid-Atlantic region with quite a number of PSU types around me. Not sure why I would need to lie about this to make a rather trial reply to someone’s comment.

Agree Mayor. When I first saw that Carmen was critical of Ohio State, I thought…”Maybe UGA can get him”>…after reading the whole thing, I hope the arrogant kid never sets foot on campus. We don’t need wet behind the ears kids telling the coach who to play. Hope he ends up at North Dakota St.

Late to this thread, but hear, hear, Mayor. Even an asshole gets it right every once in a while, and Herbie — while indisputably an asshole — gets it right here. This social media bullshit is volatile enough when they’re already on your team, First Amendment being what it is and all. But when they’re fucking with your program while they’re still in high school? Aw, HELL no.

I’m betting Corch Irvin Myres wishes Herby would mind HIS own business…

Is this going to be a big deal to Coach Irvin? I really can’t wait to see how he responds – if he responds.

Herbie can’t help himself. He is so vested in protecting all things Ohio State that he does not do his job properly. While he is certainly not the first color commentator with strong biases, it is frustrating that with a sport as entertaining and engaging as college football that they powers that be are as lazy as they are at holding on-air talent to any objective standard of professional quality.

Just to recap, he Tweeted at OSU’s frosh QB Tate Martell (who came across quite poorly in the QB1 show that featured Fromm a year ago) to tell an OSU recruit what to and not to tweet. Herbie being Herbie tried covering his tracks earlier by trying to apply his message to ALL recruits. The flaw in his little plan is that he hasn’t tweeted things like this in the past.

Again, it is frustrating that the large majority of college football on-air talent is as poor as it is. That said, Andre Ware and Dave (whatever his name is that does 12pm SEC games) are NOT the number one ESPN crew. I am very curious to know what Fowler’s candid thoughts are on Herbie because Fowler is the consummate professional broadcast journalist who takes great pride in his craft. My guess is that he probably likes Herbie and has figured out how to work with him, but I would be curious if he actually respects Herbie as a good color commentator OR studio analyst.

I think he is a blight on college football.

been blocked by kirk for a while on twitter.

probably something to do with mark richt losing control…

kirk should follow the golden rule of recruit twitter, dont tweet at recruits.

I got blocked by him for asking hsi take on the Big 10’s bowl performance a year ago? I underestimated how badly 31-0 stung him.

    • So Coach Richt has lost control of tOSU recruiting…..I like it…. Here’s my question ,and I understand they are 18, but would ANY D-1 coach want these arm chair coaches in their locker room. Talk about energy vampires. Ohio is my dad’s Alma mater but they lost me when they sold their souls to Coach Urban Cryer.

      • Likely not. However, there is a difference between being recruited and being inside the locker room. Opinions get very closely held when Sam Pittman is your personal trainer after practice.

It’s a good thing Kirby won’t reach out to potentially unhappy highly-rated commits of recruits of another school. wink

I’m layin’ back with a dubie waiting to see Delany grab his crotch from this well-aimed kick at his administration of the Big. Take a look at the top teams from the Big that have been jacked up with false hype and are just waiting to tumble, but they should never have been up there in the first place. First in Delany’s shitbag was to have the SEC downgraded (with Herbie’s help) with any kind of negative crap they could append and then elevating Big10 teams in their place (last I saw was about 8 Big 10 teams in the top 12).

Now they contend that OSU’s loss is no biggie, but we should notice other Big10 teams up there simply because they will play OSU and give the OSU upgraders the chance to say they beat a top ten team. Horseshit.

This falderal will encompass Delany, Corch, Herbie, OSU, PSU (plus past and current coaches), UM ‘s Harbaugh and his recruiting and all the rest of the somebitches who downgraded the SEC and inserted the Big10 this year.

Think I’ll roll a big one and wait for the inevitable downhill rolling of the Big10 turds.

“Horseshit.” ? You’ve abandoned “Pommes de rue”..?
      Easier to type for sure.
I agree with you about the over-hyping of the Big (and ND).
It’s the most predictable event in college football…year in and year out.
And it’s why the playoff system is horseshit. . The Big is given the inside track every year. The preseason top 20 was filthy with Big Ten teams.
I think we can believe this…the NCAA will hammer UF and O’MS and it will be fodder for Herbie and his ilk to Dawg Grade the conference..esp. if UGA should win it in the next few years…”A conference weakened by scandals, probations, blah, blah blah…so Georgia’s championship is diminished in impressiveness and stature” or something like that.
