I’m just a blogger, so if I catch something’s off, it’s got to be a problem.

I mentioned in my Observations post about the Samford game that it appeared to me Samford’s passing game targeted Tyrique McGhee.  Looks like there was a good reason for doing so.

Um, that’s not good.  That’s also probably why the coaches are doing everything they can to get Malkom Parrish game ready for Saturday night.

Head coach Kirby Smart said Tuesday night that Parrish has done about “30 to 40 percent of a normal workload.”

“We’ve got him on kind of a pitch count,” Smart said Tuesday. “He had 16 plays (Monday). He had about 30 or 40 plays (Tuesday) and we’ll try to keep increasing that.’’

Can they get 30 plays out of Parrish against MSU?  That may turn out to be a big deal.

  1. Granthams replacement

Davis will be at corner if Parrish can’t go with the rest of the secondary just like it was in South Bend

Man, I sure hope McGhee doesn’t turn out to be Juwan Briscoe 2.0

Not sure how many snaps McGhee gets Saturday. I know 35 had a hammy tweaked two weeks ago and they were probably resting him vs. Samford. Hopefully, 35 will be a full go Saturday night. I would think Eason is closer to playing than Parrish but they may have a committee play that position and try to get 20 or so snaps out of each of those or split the snaps between Parrish and Davis.

  4. So I posted this on the Vent yesterday and got all sorts of hilarious feedback from people trying to make this stat less damning. Two different people used the term “vague stats” to somehow act like 10/14 (with at least one TD) wasn’t that bad.

Can we put Parrish’s number on Tyrique McGhee and tell Ty to ‘limp a little and look anxiously at the side lines between plays’, just to pretend to be Parrish? After all, wasn’t it MSU who first passed on the $165K Cam commodity before Auburn flipped on their dialysis machine and sucked Cam through their college entrance filter that hasn’t been changed since 1945? Further, MSU can’t be that smart considering what Huge Freeze has posted as baseline prices for blue chips. Maybe MSU and Todd would avoid Ty for the 1st half?
And I still say if you strap a 3′ flexible handle to Chaney’s shoulders he would look just like a giant cow bell.

I was gonna say something like, ‘If we had an offense that could put points on the board early against Appy and Samford, some of the half dozen new DBs could’ve gotten more game time.’ But I’m not gonna say that.

Let’s just hope McGhee, LaCounte and some of the other younguns can improve fast and contribute. I’m also hoping Parrish, our best CB, gets back for MSU.

Don’t worry about LaCounte or this defense. After this game everybody will be talking about the “Real Dawgs”….and they’re from Athens, not Starkville.
