No favors

Gary Danielson had this to say about Alabama:

“It will be an upset if they lose a game,” Danielson said. “It’s going to take a B- effort by Alabama and an A effort by an opponent in the SEC to beat them.”

In other words, you don’t beat ‘Bama without a little help from ‘Bama.

Unfortunately, ‘Bama isn’t in a helping mood lately.

Bama can be beaten. Clemson showed the world how to do it.

  2. We may not be able to beat them, but for one, I’d love to be 12-0 when we tried.

True that. Someone posted yesterday that we could go 11-1. Who would the one be and why? UF, just because they’re in our head? Auburn? Seriously, at this point there are plenty of reasons to feel we SHOULD go 12-0. If we drop a game it won’t be because another team on the schedule is better. It will just be one of THOSE type games.

        Added note:
Remember what we always say about year two under a new coach? Our O is starting to click and we have a D that can change the momentum of a game quickly. This year has a good feel to it.

Auburn looks like they are getting their O on track, and their D is legit. I fear they will give us everything we want and more. It may be the only game we come in as underdogs. But until we beat UF, we’ll all be holding our breath.

They scored 24 on Mercer. Everyone gets their offense together against Mizz. Stidham aint the answer.

They had five turnovers against Mercer. That said, putting up numbers against Mercer and Missouri doesn’t mean any more than giving up 12 sacks against Clemson. They’re the two extremes. I’m very curious to see what they do against Mississippi State.

I told Skorp I wasn’t going to Munson until Thursday afternoon. Close enough. Booch and the inbreds are perennially lucky, they typically have good athletes, I think Booch has sold his soul to the devil, they don’t call it Kneeland for nothing, there is an SEC referee secret dictum to call/no call against UGA always, They have won two in a row, Kelly is a good back, we are coming off a big win…….

        Did I leave anything out?

We may not beat em, but I think our guys will give em all they want. This isn’t the vintage Bama team we’ve become accustomed to. I think they’re a tad weaker on D due to injuries in their LB core. I’m also not convinced that if our D slowed down their rushing attack, Jalen Hurts could beat us with his arm.

Yeah, it’s fun to think about but it’s also still too early in the season to have a justifiable “we should win 11 games”. Considering playing Alabama, with our defense playing as well as they should we should see Alabama scoring at least 10 points in non offensive touchdown and a field goal. Then, do we have enough offensive might to score 3 times? Still hard to see it and as clean as Alabama plays I’m not sure we get more than field goals off turnovers/special teams.

It’s a question that may not even affect UGA this year. They are not on our regular season schedule, thankfully. I am much more concerned about UF, Tech, etc. But, since the question has been raised, what’s the answer? To me, the answer is we have closed the gap. Considerably.

“I’ve seen Nick Saban up close, just laying into everyone and trying to spark his team on tough practice days,” Danielson said about attending mid-week Alabama practices. “He was laying into (former Alabama defensive coordinator and current Georgia head coach) Kirby Smart and Kirby is pouting. Nick says, ‘Kirby, quit pouting. If you’re too sensitive, how can I make you a better coach?’

Everybody says this every year about Alabama and inevitably, somebody beats them. Hell we came within a breath of beating them in 2012 for all that team’s warts.
