Colton Jumper on Georgia: "I think they're a good team. I don't think they're as good as we made them look today."

Well, then, thanks for being such gracious hosts.
“Not playing for NIL deals. Not playing to go viral. Not playing for TikTok,” (Nolan) Smith said. “Playing for the guy next to you and being able to push with him through tough situations. I would love for the guys to take that into next year. Don’t play for money. Play for your ‘why’ — why you play football.”-- The Athletic, 7/20/22

Eh, I feel the same as Colton. I’ll take the beatdown but I think the game was closer than the score. Certainly our offense was kinda sluggish and we got all the 50/50 calls from the refs today. Don’t get me wrong, I am thrilled and see great things for this team, but we’ve got work to do.

HA! Should have been 50 if we played a good 1st quarter.

Best of both worlds. Severe beat down along with enough mistakes to keep Kirby yelling all week.

Yeah the 1st quarter was sloppy on O for UGA. But the D is dominant. No doubt about that.

Tennessee had two plays of 10+ yards and averaged 2.7 YPP, a number that was bolstered by the 44 yard pass to Kelly. If the game was closer than the score, it wasn’t by very much.

This. So e of our fans just can not be happy and seem to be resistant to the fact that we are good. Really good. We just whipped Tennessee’s ass 41-0 in Neyland. That’s bad enough to be among all time worse ass whipping put on them there. And we are still saying we could have played better. So doesn’t that say something about how good we are? I guess some of our more gloom and doom type fans are clinging to some of what happened early on. Guys it was our true freshman qb’s first SEC road game in one our conference’s loudest stadiums. And Tennessee and their crowd were fired up early on. If you thought it was going to be smooth as silk from start to finish you don’t know a whole lot. I agree there are things to work on by I am confident they will get worked on. Enjoy the win. I bet if I had told you yesterday morning that we would win 41-0 you wouldn’t have said, “Yeah but were we perfect?”

The defense deserves the win today. One hell of a win at that! The D hunkered down all day long and refused to give in. Truly a historic performance. The offense, not so much. Fromm played in his first SEC road game and looked every bit of the true freshman that he is…wrong reads, missing open WR’s and throwing poor balls. We now know that he is not the wonder kid and that we will see a QB battle. May the best player win. All in all, what a great day to be a Dawg!

What, exactly, would “wonder kid” stats look like to you? What’s more important than 5-0? Are you really going to nit pick his stats at this point?

I can’t believe that I am going to type this…..but I agree with Skeptic.
Fromm has been great so far this year but he played like a freshman today, Against a better defense that performance gets you beat.
QB position should be open and battled for in practice just like any other spot on the field

What is a wonder kid and what does he look like? Eason last year? Murray as a redshirt freshman? Stafford as a frosh? What, exactly, would make y’all happy? We FUCKING WON! Who gives a shit if Fromm didn’t do everything perfect tonight? For the love of Pete, give the kid and coaches a chance. We played game 5 tonight. And when we get up tomorrow, we will still be 5-0. We don’t get style point deductions after watching the replay. We Are Five And Oh.

He was 7/15 for 84 yards with one pick and two more that should have. That is not a winning line against a legit defense which we will have to play in order to win the SEC or CFB playoff.
Will he eventually be able to do that…..absolutely. He may go down as the best UGA QB ever. RIGHT NOW I have my doubts about him winning a game for us with his arm if the defense shuts down our running game.
Can Eason do that? I don’t know and neither do you. I love how people just assume that he hasn’t improved at all since last year. If that is the case then we need to fire Cheney for negligence. You also need to enjoy Fromm this year because according to that logic this is the best he will ever be.

Fromm reminds me of Buck Belue. In 1980-82 Georgia won a lot of games where Buck had a stats line similar to Fromm’s yesterday.

Now I’m starting to understand this. The people who aren’t happy with the win yesterday are ones who are emotionally invested in Eason being the starter.

So if he had gone 9 for 17 for 97 yards and 3 TDs, how would you feel?
Because that’s the stat line if he throws for TDs on his two runs for TDs.

Fromm has intangibles that Eason hasn’t shown me yet. I wonder….would Eason have scrambled and gotten that first down and taken a pretty good lick doing it, or would he have folded up and took the sack? What about the 2 rushing TDs? Yea, Fromm missed a couple of reads that would have gotten big gains or TDs, but what I saw out of Eason was the same lock-on and 100 mph fastball pass to a covered receiver when he had another one wide open for a score in the right corner. Year-2, same mistakes. In my opinion, this is Fromm’s job now to keep or lose…and we will probably be wondering where Eason lands in January when he asks for a transfer.

CBS posted a stat during the game that Eason tied for first last season among all D-1 quarterbacks in fourth-quarter comebacks with four, so I assume either you weren’t watching in 2016 or you define intangibles conveniently for yourself.
Rather than worry about a transfer after the season, how about enjoy that we’ve got a couple of quarterbacks who can do what Smart needs done?

We haven’t had a lot of adversity during Fromm’s tenure to see if he can engineer 4th quarter comebacks yet. If you want to split hairs, though, it could be argued that he led one 4th qtr. comeback against Notre Dame, even if it wasn’t a ‘last minute’ comeback. We were behind, he took us down the field, and we got the go-ahead FG…..we just had to depend on defense the rest of the game.

The realist in me looks at the Miss St score today and some of our opponents and thinks, “we’re beating a lot of bad teams, maybe we aren’t that good.”
But then, the rest of me says, “Colton, 41-0, bitch! We owned you.”

OMG…why is it becoming the cool thing at GTP to denigrate our starting QB’s? Yes, Fromm was a little shaky in the first Q in his first big SECe start on the road in front of 100k. That wasn’t Sanford North like we had in South Bend. But once he ran and took some shots, got his uni grass stained, then he got after it and moved that offense. A freshman QB is going to throw picks and miss reads. But he’s a winner like that other #11 Aaron Murray. While I think Eason could also come back and take over, Fromm is proving how special he is. Some of the criticism about tonight is just over the top.
We destroyed UT…enjoy it.

Because it makes them feel better about themselves. Somehow they are Class A fans for “seeing” things that the average fan doesn’t. I would venture a guess that most, if not all, have bosses that can’t be pleased and this their opportunity to be right about something. Asshats and losers, the whole lot of them.

You need to get away from smoking that harsh shit ’cause it sets you on edge with good fans (Fan-Divisive with your reply).

I thought Fromm played well. 1st SEC start on the road at possibly the most intimidating place in the sport (similar to that guy – David Greene). Did he have his hiccups? Yep. Other Georgia QBs have gone up there and melted under the pressure. Jake didn’t. He kept chopping (of course, the D and the UT offense bailed him out of his worst mistake). He showed toughness. Eventually, the TEAM caused the dam to break. Good for him … I agree with others. Let them compete in practice for the right to play on Saturday, but for now, this is Jake’s team.
