And then there were two.
Really, is there any more that needs to be said about this week’s SEC than that?
- Alabama. Is there any more of a lock than betting on a Nick Saban team to crush a conference opponent the week after a somewhat close game?
- Georgia. “The offense definitely picked up our slack,” said inside linebacker Roquan Smith… now there’s something I didn’t expect to read.
- Auburn. Gus’ nonchalance aside, with the loss to LSU, the Tigers pretty much have to run the table to make it to the conference title game.
- Texas A&M. You can’t spell winning ugly without winning.
- LSU. Ed Orgeron stared into the abyss and won for the second straight week.
- Florida. Nice uniforms, Gators.
- Kentucky. Still America’s ugliest 5-1 team.
- South Carolina. Tennessee football, a wholly owned subsidiary of Boom Enterprises, Inc.
- Mississippi State. Finally emerged with a win. Then again, who doesn’t beat BYU these days?
- Ole Miss. The Landsharks, formerly the Black Bear Rebels, have a conference win to their name, which is more than you can say for the last four schools.
- Tennessee. It could be worse, Booch. At least your team isn’t playing Alabama this week… oh, wait.
- Arkansas. This is a putrid team with a marginally better defense than the ones at Missouri and Vandy, which is why I had to place the Hogs twelfth.
- Missouri. The best thing the Tigers have going for them at this point is that they get to play Vanderbilt.
- Vanderbilt. The Commodores’ defense is one slim point shy of yielding fifty points a game in conference play.
LOL #3 by default.
I’m thinking the oldest rivalry is gonna be a Luther for you guys.

I feel we are better than each of the teams left on our schedule but when you put them together in back to back weeks…
I admit. I have reached the part of our schedule where I may hold my breath at times. I know the fans will NOT be looking past UF or Auburn. The players better not either…not that I think Kirby will let them. I’m hoping the 28 points given up to Mizzu was our ‘let down’ for the season.

Rat poison. Auburn will be a tough game.

Toughest game left on the regular season schedule, by far.

Yep, Auburn will be a slobber knocker. Maybe we need to let Auburn get out to an early lead? 😉

Thanks for clarifying. I was thinking “Is he trying to say ‘loser’ with a lisp?”

We boast of conference wins over # 9, 11, 13, and 14, in your poll. What’s the opposite of Dawg porn?

Ah, but the closest margin in any of those games is 25 points.

True, we have beaten 9, 11, 13, and 14 as #2 should. I am sure Kirby is telling them not to sleep on 3, 6, 7, and 8 as he said immediately after the game Saturday, and as I know you are fond of hearing “we’ll get their best shot”.

In fairness, 9 and 11 aren’t really any worse than 6, 7 and 8. 9 might even be marginally better.

Since they already beat them, I’m curious as to why 6 is afraid of 7?

….because 7 8 9??!
Hah!

I guess winning the bye week does translate into winning the game week. Next week is Tennessee’s bye week … as in, “Bye, Booch, you services are no longer needed.”

I say we start a petition to keep Butch at UT.

I think Booch should be Coach for Life in Knoxville … We could call our Butch fan club “Bulldogs for Booch” sort of like the “Gators for Goff” from the 90s.

I wish the bama game was being played in Knoxvegas, just so all the vol supporters could be there for another epic a$$kicking. And for an encore saban could take the vol navy down like the Spanish Armada.
Gonna miss Booch. But if there’s another Booch or SOD out there, I’m sure ut will find him.

I’m trying to figure out who would want that job. You play Alabama, Georgia and Florida every year. You have a limited local recruiting base. You have a fan base with unrealistic expectations. It’s not the job it once was.

I think one Mike Bobo would like to have a crack at it.

I wouldn’t be surprised. The problem is the Viles have been burned by mid-major coaches for their last 2 hires. They need to make a big splash with this hire, or people will be saying, “Same old Tennessee.” They need to get their fan base back on board at this point, and I don’t think Bobo does that.

Is anyone else worried about USC being a trap game? I know there is an obvious difference in talent, but they look well-coached and have a good quarterback. Playing them between Florida and Auburn worries me.

Yeah, that’s something to think about. As PTC says, “Kirby is on it.” We may get caught looking forward to Auburn in that game, but I think it only results in us winning by 20 instead of 30.

The remaining schedule is full of traps. SC and KY both can do harm, and of course FL and AU will get the attention. Tech will give us our best shot but I expect Kirby to put extra emphasis on that one.

Tricky ending stretch for sure, we may have a loss in us, but I don’t see it in Jax or vs GT…

Wouldn’t it be just as easy and accurate to list nos. 3-14 alphabetically at this point?
