I touched on this in yesterday’s review post, but, yeah, Georgia’s a monster in the third quarter.

So far in '17, @FootballUGA has been most dominant 3rd quarter tm at FBS level. They are outscoring opponents by just under 13 points in 3Q.

Halftime adjustments, for the win.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
We’ve noticed this trend and I wonder where that is coming from. I don’t know if all the analysts that we have hired get to be in booth working during a game, but if they can and do that it seems like money well spent to me. Anyone know if that is what happens?

This is a large reason why Kirby has me feeling so optimistic. We haven’t made halftime adjustments like this since the Dooley years.

I still think VanGorder made some of the best halftime adjustments. Those defenses were money after the break.

Dooley adjustments? LOL.
The only adjustment he ever made was when someone finally talked him into letting Herschel play.
Other than that, he was a horrible garbage coach.

I believe 1 part is winning the coin toss and deferring. And playing damn good football.

Just looked stats up. We are 5-2 receiving the opening kick off in the 2nd half. The 2 we did not get were Samford (fumble) and App State (punt). Of our 5 possessions, we have scored only 17 points. So, halftime adjustments (and a defense with its hair on fire) seem to be the case.

Interesting the other advatange to receiving the kick in the 2nd half is half time and hopefully a successful drive to open the half gives your defense some time to catch their breath.

Great halftime adjustments or Kirby is one hell of a motivational speaker. From what I’ve seen, it hasn’t appeared like we’ve really changed much schematically in the 3rd quarter (sans Mizzou Tucker playing more deep cover 2 to give the corners help from getting torched). Seems to be more a combination of us coming back out of the locker room with our hair on fire and the opposing defense really not looking forward to have to tackle chubb, michel, swift and co for another 2 quarters.
