The potential argument that a 1 loss ND gets in over us after only losing to undefeated Bama because “conference championships matter” will end my relationship with CFB as I know it. Best we just keep control of our destiny.

Cannot read Mandel’s comments due to the subscription demand, but it is easy to make the case that UGA and Bama are the two best teams based on what we have seen. But that is subjective, and it is only half way through the season. And regardless of which one wins or loses in Atlanta, only one team from a conference should get the invite to the playoff.

Won’t happen. The committee system was created to keep 2 teams from the same conference from playing for the title. It’s about money and the Power 5 commishes and presidents were incensed that the SEC got all the BCS money in ’11. They created this committee to stop that very thing and the committee members know that. If the committee voted both UGA and Bama in, the members all would be replaced next year.

It wasn’t created for that at all, where did you get that? But I hope they do not put two teams from any conference in a playoff that doesn’t have room for all conference champs already. Barring a collapse of two of those champions during the season, there is no justification to exclude those schools/conferences.

This begs the question: suppose we went to, say, Montana. And suppose we found 100 ‘average’ college football fans (not necessarily message-board crazies, but not twice-a-year viewers, either) and put them in a room. Maybe not even just football fans, but fans of sports in general. If I held up a screenshot of “The All-American” or asked them if they knew what the “theathletic.com” how many of them do you think would be able to identify it off the top of their heads?”

Does Mandel really think people will pay to read his blog? I would love to see his subscription numbers. And, I am not saying this because of who he is. Why would you pay for any content on the Internet when you can find just about anything you want for free? This baffles me about the recruiting sites as well. All you are paying for is to read the information a little bit sooner than others.

This is all very confusing…so, I should, like pull for USC, right, even though it somehow diminishes Georgia’s win, it would protect….ah hell, never mind, Florida, South Carolina, Auburn, Kentucky and Tech.
