The Gators are having a down year, but UF remains one of the top 6 teams in the FBS in the state of Florida. https://t.co/w2gX8FS5EW pic.twitter.com/TvRcaHDvoj

“And Georgia fans, don’t be turds. Enjoy this. Soak it up. It’s awesome. If you don’t win this year, it’s still not a failure. It’s a heck of a run. Back-to-back in the Playoff era hasn’t been done. So, to ask for a third I feel like it’s gluttonous. I feel like it’s not OK. But we’ll be in the mix.”-- David Pollack, On3.com, 5/9/23
So the only thing they have to play for is a spoiler to us. Hmm

Too many schools competing for the in-state talent….hope Georgia never gets that way.

Check out rivals top 20 players in Florida from last year: https://n.rivals.com/state_rankings/2017/florida
UF only signed 2 players in the top 20 and they were ranked 17th and 19th. FSU signed 5 and Miami signed 1. The remaining 12 signed with out of state schools.
UF’s problem isn’t USF or Florida Atlantic stealing their recruits.

Surprised….surprised to see that many leaving the state of Florida. But the ones that are staying at state schools, are of course…being shared by the Florida schools. Didn’t do the math, but if you look at Georgia’s top 20 for the past 4 years, they are getting about the same percentage as all those Florida schools (not sharing with the FSU’s, Miami’s and etc). Looks like they all (top 20) are going to Georgia. Glad we do not have that scenario..and hope we never do.

How ’bout them GEORGIA SOUTHERN EAGLES and those GEORGIA STATE PANTHERS!!! Just goes to prove that if you want a big-time college football program REALLY BAD, you’ll get a REALLY BAD big-time college football program.

How ’bout that Carla Williams?

I’ve seen some ish talk about her, and joy over her leaving. What’s the story there?

Seems like a common rumor on Georgia message boards that for some reason she’s all to blame for the program-hampering policies we have. I’m not sure how much of that is based in reality and how much is just because she’s a black woman. I wish I could say our fan base wasn’t like that but a perusal of fan forums confirms otherwise. Plus no one that makes jubilant comments about her leaving seems able to list one specific reason why it’s a good thing.

I have had some workplace interactions with her. I left most of them unimpressed by her. Seemed to be another yes person who was just padding a resume or waiting on the UGA AD job to be given to her.

She just got the AD job at UVA so she must have impressed some people that were clearly not gifted with the keen insight that you are.

If you knew the people that advance to prominent positions in Universities, you’d realize “gifted” and “keen insight” are qualities rarely exhibited by staff or hiring committees.

Ah, there it is. The anti-intellectual bias. Quaint.

You missed my point – it’s not the intellectuals that run Universities. They certainly work at Universities….run, not so much.

I can only state what I experienced. Maybe she is highly skilled behind a desk or in a board room. I didn’t see a person that would be better than McG as AD. Good luck to her at UVA.
By the way thanks for that job at the end. It was super helpful and added so much to the conversation.

Yeah. Seems like our fans are always cutting McGarity loads of slack cuz he’s a white guy.
Brilliant insight Chili.

I can think of a half dozen tangible reasons off the top of my head why Georgia fans don’t like Greg McGarity. I’ve yet to see one actual reason why people think Carla Williams is a problem. It’s not an indictment – it’s a real question. What did she do to deserve all this scorn? Do you know? Or are you just jumping on the bandwagon because you’ve “heard things?”

I have no idea what Ms. Williams has done in her role. The reason I’m glad she’s heading to UVA is that I want the next AD to 1) have executive experience and 2) come from outside the Georgia Way. I do not want an internal promotion (Red Panties) or for us to bring someone back to Georgia (McGarity).

That’s fair enough, but it hardly explains the celebratory sentiments being expressed regarding her departure. Or the negative rhetoric regarding her tenure in the past. This should be an easy question to answer but I keep asking and nobody seems to have a real answer.

She is Virginia’s new AD. Thought the Senator would confirm that to you. Maybe taking the day off or head down over a hole in the ground so as not to receive the news.

Over at Swampgas, they’re being more brutal on themselves than any of us are. They rank themselves anywhere from third to fifth in-state. Nobody there ranks them up top, not even the most delirious homers.

Unless we shit the bed, or they’ve been sand-bagging, Flarduh will do well to score 13 on this defense so we just have to figure out how to top that.

I feel confident this team won’t shit the bed, sure we could lose, but it won’t be because they didn’t give max effort

Before the Mizzou game, all the analysis led to this conclusion: limit turnovers and keep Mizzou from throwing deep and we should win pretty easily. We were tied 21-21 because of a turnover and two deep ball TDs…and we still won pretty easily.
So, what’s the formula against UF? It would seem to me to be limit turnovers and win the field position battle. But if you look at UF’s body of work and ours, we might slip up there and still win pretty easily.
The X factor is mindset: are the Gators in or out of our heads? I think if that’s what the Gators are counting on to be in this game, they are going to be unmercifully crushed because mindset may be what these Dawgs are doing best this year.

CKS is building his program to control and own the LOS. that is the ticket to beating FU. The Dawgs will impose their will and break the Gaytors down thereby creating an easy victory. if we don’t give them any easy TD’s, we win very big.

Going to a gathering that day and, what with competing masquerade parties, may be a smaller group than usual so says the FU host. A low country boil, hot wings and raw oysters may be just the thing to fit in with beer during the game.
I’m bringing the oysters, sort of like a sign of peace for the scalping that may ensue; hopefully enough Appalachicola Oysters and beer to keep them peaceable until I can exit. The FU host has ties to UGA history through his forebears and we expect the isolated outdoor property and temperature should make for a great day of freedom from both politics and FU football shackles that our young grads have fixated in their minds. Go Dawgs!

Suggestion if you have a grill nearby, cover the the grill with unopened oysters until they pop open from the heat. Use a grill mit to pick up the oysters with one hand, and a fork in the other to eat the roasted oyster. Virtually no work involved, just enjoy.
