And so I must take my leave of you good people…

I am heading out the door this morning for yet another trip to the Cocktail Party, just as I’ve done since 1979.  (First stop is here to pick up to pick up game day grillables, in case you’re wondering.)  And, yes, there will be beer.  But I digress.

I’ll have my trusty laptop with me, so I really won’t be too far away.  There will be a few posts between now and kickoff, so stay tuned.

If you’re heading down to Jax yourself, I’ll be tailgating in Lot X, so feel free to come by and visit.  For those of you at home, you know the drill.  Behave, you scamps.

  2. Patak is amazing. If you’re a pastrami man, I’d highly recommend getting a pound. It’s amazing and insanely cheap, too.

Yep! One of our family favorites from Patak is the potatis skorv (Swedish potato sausage).

      See everyone in Jacksonvegas!

You’re correct; Patak is fantastic. Order up the south african boerewors sausage, half beef, half pork. You won’t be sorry.

Have to try this, if the pastrami, or corned beef, is even in the same universe as what I get in the NY delis it would be worth the drive. Some of the other options look attractive as well.

Having moved to St. Simons I am dependent on family and friends to bring me Patak’s. If you want to come to the beach for a weekend, the rental rate is meat from Patak’s. My sister in law just brought me six pounds of their hand cut bacon. She is welcome any time.

I thought my pops was the only one who knew about the Patak’s secret. Good stuff for sure.

    • The cool thing about Patek is that the women behind the counter are not very friendly….just like it is in Eastern Europe. The Kabanos are the bomb. Very authentic. Blood sausage is great too.

Wow Senator! I’m a Chef with a Charcuterie background, and I thought Patak was a professional secret. Very nice. By the way, wouldn’t some lovely gator sausage be nice on Mon.?

  10. Godspeed. I can only hope we dominate UF on Saturday the way my youth football team dominated our equivalent of UF in 2015: https://www.determinedlook.com/blog/2017/10/26/october-29-2015-the-rains-of-castamere-pour-down-on-my-youth-football-teams-opponent

I am headed that way meself for the first time since 2008. I hate to say it on this blog, but my “in person” record for this game is an abysmal 3-13…if things don’t go well Saturday, I am certain I am the one to blame.

I went every year until my knees convinced me that I couldn’t continue until I had knee replacements. First year that I missed, we won, and the second year we won, and so I thought I had been a jinx all that time, and that I owed it to the team to ‘stay away’ and I did stay away even after getting the knees replaced successfully and being fully ambulatory, but I have since been proven wrong. You’re not a jinx; neither am I. Neither of us is important or powerful enough to affect this team by our mere presence or absence if this team wants to win. So, go and have a good time, give the Gators hell and bring home a W.

Lol! I stopped going in 2011 and we won! I thought maybe I was the jinx, so I stayed away in 2012 and we won again! In order the not tempt fate I stayed away in 2013. In 2014 I surmised that winning 3 in a row got the monkey off of our backs, UF played as a young league team would play after getting high, we were riding high and I figured it was safe to go back. I walked to the car after the game muttering that Dylan Dreyer’s Booty is not the jinx, but I am.

Nevertheless, I figure those 10,231 analysts and consultants at Butts-Mehre have worked tirelessly to game plan around the Gaskilldawg jinx, so I am there!

Just saw the forecast for next season now includes James Cook’s lightning to go with Zeus’s thunder. Our backfield is going to be insane. Let’s get a couple of more linemen and we will be set.

With the Senator out-of-pocket, we can talk recruiting ;). We are solidifying the ‘Running-Back-U’ title with this log-jam of talented RBs. Cook moved us to #5. The last 3 classes have already put us in the ‘reload’ not ‘rebuild’ company of teams.

As long as Kirby is the head coach, Georgia will be a program institutionally committed to playing great defense. Now, with guys like Fields, White, and Cook coming in, we have a chance to have a potentially dominant offense as well. All the coordinator, whether it’s Chaney or somebody else, will have to do is stay out of the way and not screw anything up.

All of this adds up to a terrifying problem for the rest of the SEC, especially the East. I dare say the future of UGA football has never been more promising than it is at this very moment in time.
