He Gator Chomped in the end zone after the Reed score and lived to tell the tale.
Fifth-year senior outside linebacker Davin Bellamy punctuated a Georgia defensive touchdown with his own “Gator Chomp” after safety J.R. Reed’s touchdown on a three-yard fumble recovery in the third quarter.
“They beat us for three years straight,” Bellamy said. “I just felt like that was the perfect time to do it and also we heard and we saw the things that were being said through social media all week. … We came out here and we talked with our helmets.”
He is an immortal. I will hear no dissent on the matter.
Yea, I’m surprised he wasn’t flagged, as a ref was standing there watching the celebration unfold. Regardless it’s a stupid rule – a UF player can do the Gator chomp, but if an opposing player does it, it’s an automatic 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
Perhaps the refs were making up for the myriad times earlier Michel had his face mask grabbed with no penalty.

Does anyone know shy UGA was wearing road whites?
We have been allowed to wear home Red every year since at least the 1960’s in this game. I particularly remember us wearing home red and Florida wearing home blue when Spurrier was QB.
Wondering if it was a statement by Kirby, or just something random.

Was decided earlier today in the week…

I’d like to see the both teams wear their home colors as a tradition in this game (as long as the combination is not red & orange. which would be too hard to distinguish). I love that look on the field when we did this recently, as well as in the USC-UCLA game.

Both teams have only worn home uniforms for the past three years. I know back to late 70s uniforms alternated each year. Look at pictures of Herschel.

We have wore white a ton in this game.
Some old Florida fan before 2015 game ago brought up that both teams used to wear their home jerseys and perhaps they should again. UF athletic director brought it up to UGA and for some stupid reason we agreed to if ( that year FL was supposed to wear white and we were nice enough to allow them to wear blue). That was also the year we thought it was a good idea to start Faton.
Basically, another good move by Kirby, imo. Why let those mothers wear their home jerseys every year.

Interesting. I know we wore road uniforms in Herschel’s day.

You are right. We’ve worn road whites since the seventies on years we are the not the ‘home’ team. The Gators wore orange those years up until the head ball sack brought back the blue home jerseys in ’90. The NCAA changed the rules a few years back, allowing both teams to wear home colors, as long as the colors contrasted. So it wouldn’t have been allowed for them to wear orange and us red. The last three years we wore red while they wore blue for the first time since the ’60s. Kirby decided to change it up this year.

In one sense I could give a fat rat’s ass what happens to the head coach at Florida.
On the other hand, there is something stinky going on in Gainesville and now there are these rumors Florida is working on a way to do Jim Mcelwain out the buyout the university agreed to pay.
Scrambling around trying to find “cause” is low class. If there is truth to this, and there appears to be, give me The Georgia Way, anytime.

I just read he has been fired this morning. Can anyone confirm this?

Read it three different places. No mention of the buyout.

Agreed. If you (UF) want to fire a guy, pay him what you signed up for. I’m sure there are enough unhinged fans in any major program’s following that some sort of implied “death threat” was well within the realm of probability.

Dawgs beat Tennessee, and it is all about Butch Jones being fired.

Florida coach fired in year three. Unsourced, unfounded threats; lack of glamour offense; and a whole lot of player suspensions [old ball coach referred to FSU’s matter as free shoe university].
For some reason both university feel they must win SEC East every year or they are not a legit program. Think they are entitled.
Florida is the pits now. Why fire a coach during the season. Has negative impact not only on Florida staff and players, but now it begins the speculation at other teams. And that can be bad. So it last year at Houston.
When an AD, a University President, and their board does this it shows it has no class. Just like all those “sunshine state” folks getting up and walking out. Bet those recruits and players thanked their fan base for all that loyal support.

Dear UGA football players, coaches, and support staff (that includes you, McGarity)…..
I am the self appointed spokesman for bulldog fans who are 40 something, take their kids to occasional games (when we can get tickets), wear red on game day no matter where we are, drive trucks/cars with Bulldog plates, fly window flags even if we’re just going to the grocery store for beer and wings, long ago dressed our babies in Bulldog onsies, etc, etc. You know me. There are thousands of us. My message to you is this…. thank you. Thank you for yesterday. Thank you for being outstanding. Thank you for the preparation. Thank you for making us feel a way we’ve wanted to feel for a long time. Thank you.

One amazing thing about Bulldog nation is how we turn out across the country, even in down years. There are 4 different bars that host viewing parties for UGA games in LA, and they’re packed. Bama meanwhile only has one and it’s a shithole.

I was wondering on the road home today what our record would be had Bellamy, Carter, Chubb, Michel, Davis, and/or Snders had all decided to go early last year. They made a few bucks by staying for sure.
