Certainly one of our lowest points starting Fauta.

No one knew Mac was an anemic recruiter that point either.

To paraphrase Edwin Edwards: “Don’t ever get caught in bed with a live girl or a dead shark.”

This warms the deepest pits of hate in my soul. (I reserve those places for Gators)

Foley was just another shmo. Zook, Muschamp, and McElwain. Urban supposedly wasn’t even his call. Bernie Machen’s connections w Utah’s pres got that rolling.

Let’s be fair here. McElwain won the SEC East his first 2 seasons. Yes, his team got stomped twice by Bama in the SECCG but a lot of other teams got (and still get) stomped by Bama. He had to dismiss 10 players from his team before this season began and the Gators are having a mediocre or worse season. So you fire the guy in mid-season? And you threaten to fire him for cause (in a situation which does not live up to “for cause” IMHO) as a means to lowball him on a buyout that FU agreed to pay contractually. Pray tell why would any first rate college football head coach take this job. I know, I know, there will be a line of applicants certainly from career assistants and second tier HCs, but don’t expect a top of the line hire for FU. McElwain makes the 3rd HC in a row to leave FU under less than wonderful circumstances. The FU HC job is rapidly becoming less and less desirable.

Let me also add that without a championship caliber head coach and given the competition for recruits in the State of Florida with the ascension of UCF and USF I can certainly see FU becoming a second division team in the SEC East in football. They better work on their basketball and baseball programs if they want to remain relevant. They have already slipped in golf and tennis.
