Everybody’s AD sucks.

And here I thought Jeff Long was a genius.

University of Arkansas trustees have met in executive session but taken no action against Athletic Director Jeff Long or Head Football Coach Bret Bielema.

The UA trustees had gone into a closed-door executive session starting at 8:45 a.m. Thursday and came out shortly after noon having taken no action.

We had been told before the meeting that some of the trustees have not been happy with the direction of the athletic program, especially the football team. Many fans and supporters have been restless over the disappointing football season and the team’s lack of success with a 4-5 record so far this season.

Another place where the natives appear to be getting restless, which can only be good news for Jimmy Sexton.

UPDATE:  A hero for our time emerges.

Tuberville, who joined me on The Opening Kickoff on WNSP-FM 105.5 on Thursday, was asked if he would be interested in the Auburn’s athletic director position.

“I would love to help Auburn’s athletic program,” Tuberville said. “I don’t think there’s anyone more qualified than me. I know it. I know the people. I know the boosters, the alumni. I know the city, the community. I would love to talk to the president, whether I am a candidate or whether I can help.”

On the bright side, if he got the gig, at least we wouldn’t have to listen to him mail it in any more on ESPN.

Bert’s gone unless he wins out. Take it to the bank.

I do not understand why anyone would go back to Auburn. I would think once is enough!

On a related note, SOMEBODY please hire Les Miles!
    He is TERRIBLE on TV.

Agreed, if we can get Tubs back in auburn and out of the broadcasting booth it’s a win win

Given the number of openings expected, and the number of new openings as a result of filling those spots, he will get some calls. And they could do a lot worse, I think LSU acted too quickly and now find themselves in another bind with Big Ed. Miles indicated this week that he would consider the Oregon State opening, which means he is willing to go anywhere.

Yeah, I hate to say it, but he is terrible. I honestly think they have cue cards for him. He is so uncomfortable on camera that it makes me uncomfortable.

Barrett Sallee was tweeting out about he is fun and exciting in the booth. Couldn’t believe that anyone who’s watched a game he’s done this year would say that. He’s lazy and unprepared IMO.

Ok, if nobody else is going to say it, I will.

What is up with the terrible hair dye job? I never heard what he said because I couldn’t quit staring at that unnatural Dollar General shade of regret. Was it a subliminal message to Auburn about their upcoming vacancy? I mean, I know National redhead Day was this past week but, geez.

Holy crap. Bert is one thing and I would think arky should give him another year but tubs? I can only imagine how smug he would be, there isn’t enough in my vocabulary to express how superior and self absorbed he would be roaming the halls of the wartiglesmen hq.

We need Gruden at UT and tubby at Auburn. I thought this season couldn’t get any more fun. I was wrong

I wonder if Tubs would be as uninspired as an AD as he is as an announcer. Using search committees to suggest coaching retreads? Maybe Rick Pitino could turn things around on the plains?

Tubs would have those Tigers going big time NASCAR on the plains!

    Arkansas should hire Tuberville.

No way should he be considered for AU AD.

  9. For what is worth some people like Tubeville’ s color commentary. I will concede that he does not seem to do a lot of prep for his games but I think his coaching insights are damn good. One does not win 7 out 10 versus Alabama without knowing what your doing. He sees things that some of the other color commentators totally miss and if he is Aubarns AD the get even factor would be great theater.

I’d rather not have another true UGA hater in a big position for our bigger rivals, like Spurrier at UFraud. Not sure if Tubbs could channel hate effectively or let it lead to dumb hires/early fires…don’t wanna find out. I have some respect for the guy.

Getting Tubs off of my TV and into the AD position at Barn seems like a win-win to me.

  12. More power to them if they hire Tubberville as AD. There’s like this last little flailing kick from all the late 90s, early 2000s class of coaches that are really past their prime in understanding how the system works and being able to appreciate how truly cut-throat CFB is today. Tubberville may think he knows what’s up but I guarantee you he does not have the energy or forward-thinking required to be an AD in 2017. The problem is the old dudes with all the $$ hiring them probably don’t know either…….which is why somebody will hire Les Miles, why UT will let Fulmer and other insiders have an unbalanced level of influence in their next hire, why Florida could be screwed if they let lazy-a** Steve Spurrier and ex-AD Foley call the shots, and why we wont have an upgrade in our gameday / tailgating / restroom experience until younger people are running the show.

    McGarity got lucky.
