And you know what that calls for here at the blog…
Enjoy the day, be grateful for friends and loved ones, savor a 10-1 record going into the Tech game and settle down for what (I hope) should be a nasty Egg Bowl tonight.
Life ain’t bad, all things considered.

Very traditional… in an intellectual, political, dawgs blog kind of way. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all who participate on here… especially Derek and Don in Mar-a-logo! I’m having back surgery Tuesday. Hope to be cognizant for our victorious sec championship game.

Reading into the comments of the piece provided, you get to the last before Wilson says he bought a farm and had turkeys and was surprised to see that they can fly several yards, so during the broadcast, most writers thought turkeys really couldn’t fly. No one compares with wild turkeys that can fly silently in evenings when going to roost that can be some distance away so that, assuredly, they should have known that turkeys can fly. The problem with pen-raised turkeys are that their wings are clipped such that they can’t catch full air ( if raised in an open pen) and if they were sourced from turkey houses (raised inside) they could have certainly flown away.
Finding out that it really did occur in Atlanta to give them the idea and that some of the writers truly believed that Thanksgiving turkeys can’t fly only adds to the humor in real life. Always hilarious and I remember nearly falling out of my chair watching that episode live. It was even funnier recalling with friends who had seen it also and we waited for the replay a few years later.

Enjoy the day and still one of the funniest items on TV. Had to explain to some “literalists”, yeah I know wild turkeys can fly, but domestic with all that breast not so much.
