The game might have been over for 60 seconds before the announcement came. Quick and cold.
The deck is cleared for the triumphant return of Gus, right?

I posted something a few days ago about how Urban Meyer has mastered keeping his team in the playoff picture. Here’s another example of how he works it, courtesy of Phil Steele.
You can go a long way pounding the crap out of most teams. Even the lousy to mediocre ones.

Man, another great musician younger than I am passed.
New wave / power-pop musician Tommy Keene has passed away, aged 59.
A post on the cult singer-songwriter’s official website confirmed Keene had “passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, in his sleep at his Los Angeles home on Wednesday (November 22).”
Over his 40-year career, Keene released 12 full-length albums and signed deals with labels Geffen and Matador Records. In this time, he collaborated with the likes of the Goo Goo Dolls and R.E.M.’s Peter Buck. His career began as a guitarist in Washington D.C. bands, including the Rage and the Razz, and after launching as a solo artist in 1982, he broke through with 1984 hit ‘Places That Are Gone’.
“Unexpected” is right. Keene was touring as recently as August. Sad to hear. He was a terrific guitarist and a good songwriter. This is probably his best known song.
Keene also collaborated with Guided By Voices’ Robert Pollard on an album they put out under the name Keene Brothers. I’ve always loved this song.
RIP, Tommy.

… the Egg Bowl was not without its entertaining moments. This one was my favorite.
He managed to follow that up later by getting tossed after he committed his second personal foul of the night. This was his exit.
It’s got to be the nastiest rivalry in the country at this point, doesn’t it? And just wait until the NCAA lays down the last word in the Ole Miss investigation…
