#Karma rears its ugly head.

The game might have been over for 60 seconds before the announcement came.  Quick and cold.

The deck is cleared for the triumphant return of Gus, right?

The stage is set, and personally, I’m hoping the Tide cleans their clock and sends him on his merry way.

Based on this, Gus will fit right in. He is accustomed to working in slimy waters. https://twitter.com/FootballScoop/status/934210593992728583

Very sleazy way to handle that, must have watched McStupid handle our change awkwardly. The players busted their butt tonight and he didn’t get a chance to get to the locker room with them. Don’t understand the rushed timing. Also don’t see Malzahn taking this spot. With their lack of a recruiting base, they had better look at The Pirate to come in and try to attack unconventionally.

So, early predictions on who Aubren calls first if Gus slimes his way down to Fayettenamn? It’s gotta be Kiffin, right? They are perfect for each other.

Most people forget that Arkansas is a traditional college football power. In the old Southwest conference it usually got down to Arkansas and Texas to see who would be conference champion. Arkansas has been to the SEC championship game three times without winning. If Arkansas could find the right coach Arkansas could be the main rival to Alabama in the SEC West. Gus may just be that guy.

Yes the deck is cleared for Gus but there is that problem of money, and I don’t see Gus being fired after the Iron Bowl. He might after next year but I don’t see it this year. Arky would have to come up with the buyout after paying off not just their current HC which was over paid but the AD’s contract which overpaid the HC.

Arkansas is already obligated to Bert’s buyout. I hear but cannot swear that Gus only owes Auburn $1 million if he leaves early. That’s a doable number these days.

Well, considering how many of the Waltons call Arkansas their alma mater, I think they can come up with the money.

I am obviously missing something. I understand Gus has ties to the state of Arkansas, but why would he leave a program like Auburn, especially after all he has built there? Going to Arkansas would be a step backwards from a career standpoint. I get that Arkansas was a power in the 60’s and 70’s too, but it isn’t anymore. What coach wants to go somewhere he will be less competitive?

Auburn has a history of firing HCs even after they have been successful as soon as things go bad. If Gus had lost to Georgia and to Bama he would have been toast this year. He’s always only one bad season away from the ax there. I don’t understand why anyone good would want to be HC at Auburn. Biggest bunch of ingrates in the nation.
