Selection committee, please. You’re better than this.

If this winds up being the culmination of a great regular season…

… just fucking shoot me now and put me out of my misery.

Seriously, for those of you jonesing for a Meyer-Saban debate, just put ’em in a bowl game together and let the rest of us enjoy the way things have played out.

UPDATE:  Stewart Mandel, of all people, with the eloquent rebuttal.

Sadly, the committee is probably not better than this.

    What the hell???
SEC East…other than Georgia, what in hell has happened to this division.
Yesterday, the ACC owned you sorry ass football programs…Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vandy [latter 2 throw in because of your SECED record].
If I am on the selection committee, I discount the East teams. You are weak!
Georgia. You are in the pool. But you have an opportunity to change the eye test in Atlanta.
Winning the game would be one thing, but you must put a whipping on the board and field.

UGA is in with a 1 point win over Auburn, though something more impressive might help our seeding in the playoff. UGA lost to a top 5 team on the road, which is apparently worse than losing to a 4-8 Syracuse team to the committee. In the other 11 games, UGA couldn’t have done much more – winning on the road at a ND team that was in the top 10 all year until now and blowing out the other 10 opponents by an average of 30 points per game.

Want to know why Smart celebrated with Smith after the game.
Seen the “I” formation on offense, but not on a defense.
Great move to put Smith in the “I” , protect him, and let him move.
How does that saying go…mobile, hostile, and agile.

  4. Debby Balcer

They played in SEC championship games. So there is no need for the match up. Anyway to justify Ohio State getting in. Saw one talking heAd say we were probably the best team in 2007 and were left out. They better not do it again.

  5. Will Trane

It is late November, and two coaches understand what it means for championship play…HCs at Clemson and Auburn…their teams are playing that way.

Never seen so many players lack field presence in SEC East.

  7. Thamel wrote in his piece …” Could the SEC end up with two in the playoffs when it has been the weakest in recent history?” Weak? Six in top 25. Three in the top 10. His comment reeks of bias. Hatteras gonna hate.

Yes, these morons in the media are good at making something out of nothing. I too pray that the committee is professional enough to keep it simple. Sec champ, acc champ, big champ, pick between big12/pac/ND.

Stewart Mandel with the “mic drop”. On a related topic Senator, did you see Corch calling for an “all-out investigation” of the cameraman who bumped Barrett’s knee pre-game yesterday? What a prick, the camera guy probably makes 1/100th of what Corch makes, if that.

    • BMan

The cameraman probably makes just half of what JT Barrett makes.

Corch needs an all-out investigation himself. Gosh, this hit him as hard as the dastardly Dawg players jumping up and down in his end zone.

Urban Meyer is the Donald Trump of CFB.

“{The camera guy} was a bad deal. It will forever be in the mind of Urban Meyer and in the mind of our football team. We’ll handle it, and it’s going to be a big deal.”

  10. SEC champion in – both teams would have a claim. 12-1 Georgia avenging its only loss and Auburn with 2 wins over Georgia and a win over Bama with a good loss to Clemson and an improving loss to LSU (both on the road)

ACC champion likely in – Clemson as ACC champion is in with a win over Richt and the Canes. Things get a little more murky for the Canes. The value of their two best wins devalued in recent weeks (VPI to tech and ND to Stanford). If they beat Clemson, it’s going to be hard for the committee to exclude them because the Tigers will probably be #1 in the rankings on Tuesday.

Big XII – Oklahoma is in with a win over TCU. Big XII is likely shut out if the Horned Frogs win.

B1G – Jim Delany better hope that Wisconsin wins because I don’t see a path other than the WWL giving the Buckeyes a slot how their resume stacks up against Alabama other than the additional data point.

Pac 12 – USC has to beat Stanford for any chance the Pac 12 gets a slot, and even then, they need help. I just don’t see it and wouldn’t be surprised if the Cardinal avenges their earlier loss to the Trojans.

    Wild cards
    1) Ohio State – Meyer better hope we beat Auburn because no way the committee puts two 2-loss teams in the playoff even if they are conference champions. No one has a loss uglier than the Buckeyes’ loss at Iowa.

    2) Alabama – The Tide’s resume is terrible although there is no shame in losing to Auburn at JHS this year. In a weird way, the Tide may need to pull for Auburn and then chaos to break out everywhere else to get into the CFP.

  11. PTC DAWG

Bama’s only hope is for OK to lose….period…

    • Mayor

I think PTC is right. If tOSU wins the Buckeyes get in as B1G Champions. If they lose they have 3 losses and are out and undefeated Wisky is in. If Oklahoma loses the whole Big 12 is out and that is the opening Bama needs as a 1 loss non-conference champion. The best thing that happened for Bama yesterday is the ND loss.
