“And Georgia fans, don’t be turds. Enjoy this. Soak it up. It’s awesome. If you don’t win this year, it’s still not a failure. It’s a heck of a run. Back-to-back in the Playoff era hasn’t been done. So, to ask for a third I feel like it’s gluttonous. I feel like it’s not OK. But we’ll be in the mix.”-- David Pollack, On3.com, 5/9/23
Meanwhile, back in North Ga, the high will be in the low 30’s.
Might even be too cold for my game day porch.

Getting more excited by the day. When are you heading out, Senator?

We’re leaving my sister’s house in Hawthorne at 4am, parking at the stadium, walking to the parade and then taking the shuttle back for the game. It’s about the same distance as from our house to Sanford so we should be good.

I’m staying in Hawthorne as well. Give a wave as you pass by.

No offense to the fans who’ll be there, but for our D’s sake I wish it was predicted to pour the whole game.

40% ? Good for our D … I would think that is good for our run game too as opposed to throwing the ball around.

If any of you have a chance stop by Charley’s Trio in South Pasadena, an old hangout of mine. One side is a great Italian Restaurant (with Grandma’s recipes – and yes, I’ve seen Grandma eat there) and the other side is a sports bar that has unique pizzas (sausage and capers with picante oil; Casa Lingua with sun-dried tomatoes – both to die for, plus others), great tap beers and British bottled beers. It lies due south of the Rose Bowl where Huntington Drive intersects with Alhambra Rd. There’s another one in Alhambra.
The weather gives you a chance to visit Huntington Gardens adjoining The Huntington Hotel plus a first-class Art Museum; all less than 30 mins drive to the Rose Bowl (and no freeway traffic) north through Pasadena burbs. If you stay at the hotel, their Mexican breakfast by the pool is a wonderful way to begin the day in flowering beauty. Outside is more for the summertime, but the inside breakfast area overlooks the pool and a flowering “covered bridge” walkway to cottages.

Any tips on best way to get to game and where to park ? Staying near Beverly Hills…..

Parking will be nonexistent near stadium, but public transport to the area will save you problems. Taxi from there. The several times I’ve been were to golf the course that surrounds the Rose Bowl, but that parking won’t be available. You can park south of the Rose Bowl in malls, but if you insist on driving, use the freeways, find a nearby grocery store in a mall and then get a taxi.
Btw, the people in those areas will sometimes make you question if you are back home in Georgia as the people I’ve met are mostly gracious and hospitable to a fault in that area of metropolitan L.A.
Good luck and Go Dawgs!

Thanks greatly! Looking forward to the event but not the traffic!

It won’t be available unless you reserve a spot. Also, parking in many of the areas is first-come-first-served. Also, there are is no ride share or taxi parking anywhere near the stadium, it’s all at Parsons.

and you can always call a taxi on the phone.

Those of us in Big Ten country fetishize the Rose Bowl, but not without reason. I went four years ago and the experience was far, far beyond even my wildest hopes. The weather, atmosphere, tailgating, sights, everything — all absolutely perfect. Just get there early and try to get a spot in the grassy lot just south of the stadium (i.e., on the way between the stadium and the parade). Enjoy.

I went in 84, the year I moved here. The Illini looked good going in but the Bruins spanked us. I didn’t go to the parade that year but I am this time.
