“It will be interesting.”

It’s reassuring to know that coaches don’t have any more real insight into what we’re in store for in the Rose Bowl than the typical GTP comment thread.  I mean, “Either Georgia kills ’em or Baker Mayfield puts on a show” is one helluva hot take, ain’t it?

Unlike many games, I really don’t have a feel for how it will turn out, Do you Senator?

I’m with most everyone else. I have no idea, but the Munson in me is preparing for the worst.

I think how the officiating crew handles substitutions will be an important factor. The SEC refs have been pretty good this year about letting us sub in guys, and despite a few illegal substitution penalties have generally given us a reasonable time to do so. I think we’ve been able to control pacing as well as you possibly can from the defensive side by substituting linemen at every opportunity and taking just as much time as we can doing so. I don’t watch enough college football to know if other conferences do the same, but I doubt they give as much time as the SEC.

We’ll have an ACC crew on Monday. Has anyone seen how they approach this?

I think we had an ACC crew in Atlanta against Tech this year. (Which was odd since I thought in that game they usually use the refs opposite of the home team.)

      I wasn’t impressed.

@ Tim, Little Larry is wearing me out on this one. I think UGA has what it takes. My heart tells me UGA wears them out by the 4th and shuts it down. The inner Munson, on the other hand, says they have a very good offensive line and their running game is underrated, which helps their HEISMAN TROPHY WINNING QB make plays. Typically that area of the country produces large corn fed linemen on both sides of the ball. They have a 165 lb cornerback who is very quick. They never punt or kick a field goal so we have no idea how talented the long snappah is. All that being said ……..

I’m going to put Little Larry in time out until post game Monday. I’ll eat crow if he’s right, but I’m going with 34-24, Dawgs win. Heart over head, y’all. This has season has been too much fun to feel otherwise.

I think this game will be immensely entertaining.

I think 90% of this will happen:

Crowd is pretty evenly split, with slight edge for UGA
Krypton fanfare occurs during a beautiful waning sunset and looks AWESOME
    Both teams score 35+ points
Both teams score off at least one turnover
Neither team wins by more than 10 points
ACC referees are booed by both fanbases during the game

UGA muffs a punt or kickoff
UGA returns a punt or kickoff for 50+ yards or TD
UGA sacks Mayfield for at least one loss of 15+yards
    UGA intercepts a Mayfield pass
UGA has at least one TD negated by a dumb penalty
    Roquan makes Mayfield look stupid
Kirby Smart is issued a sideline warning
Nick, Sony and D’Andre combine for 275+ total yards
Fromm is 15/22 for 200+ all purpose yards

OU has two or more 50+ yard TDs
    OU rushes for 200+ yards
OU’s giant TE scores two TDs
OU rushing attack (Mayfield or RBs) has at least one gain of 30+ yards
    Mayfield makes Roquan look stupid
    Mayfield does something unsavory
Mayfield throws for 300+ yards and 4+ TDs

I think win or lose it’s going to be the most entertaining Georgia game of the year so far.

This may come across as obsessive, but I’m heading out tonight, am super excited and having a hard time getting work done, and I’ve been waiting to see that game and sunset in person for a loooooong time. So….

Kickoff is at 2:10 local time. Average length of game last year was 3:24 which translates to right at 46 minutes a quarter. If you average that out and include the extended halftime, you come up with a 4th quarter starting at 4:58. Sunset is 4:54.

      Perfect.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s thought about this. Ha.

I’ll be sitting on a couch in Maryland and probably won’t get to see it live as I don’t expect ESPN to show it, but I look forward to seeing YouTube videos of the moment after the fact. =D

@Jared, great list. Going to use this list to create some “Rose Bowl Bingo” to play at the office watch party. (I live in TX and have a few fellow SEC fans and A LOT of OU grads at my office. They’re all really nice guys and we’re all hoping/expecting a good game, but I’m obviously also hoping for a win at their expense.)

Your list is a drinking game waiting to happen. I’m putting it on a whiteboard, every time one happens everyone drinks.

Forgive the off-topic post. After thinking that I wouldn’t be able to attend, I just made travel plans for the Rose Bowl yesterday. Can anyone give advice on the best way to park and get into the game as quickly as possible? I’ll be coming from Phoenix the morning of the game. See y’all there!

WF Dawg you may want to park at a strip mall near and call an Uber to get you to the stadium.

Yeah, I would love to hear Lincoln Riley’s version on that after the game.

But I understand that “hot take” consensus from the coaches of it could be a blowout by either. I can make a case for either, but have settled that it will balance out and we a thriller until late in the 4th. I expect us both to be in the low, to mid, thirties, or there abouts. Both offenses will be successful, fewest mistakes will decide it, imo.

I have no feel for how the game will unfold, and my inner Munson is working overtime… BUT… Kirby seems to be cool, confident, and having fun this week, so that is good enough for me.

Safe travels to all bowl-bound Dawgs – I am sure you will make Dawgnation proud. Bring us back a W!!!

“But they’re just not real effective on third down because they don’t protect the quarterback”

6th in the country (3rd down conversions), one of our strengths. No wonder some of these guys want to remain anonymous….they’re lazy:
