“We finally get a chance to play for something big.”

Of all the things I reflect on this morning in the wake of an unbelievable game, the one I keep coming back to the most is the decision of the four seniors who skipped jumping early to the NFL and came back for one last shot at collegiate glory.

It’s a decision that’s paid off in spades, but what must have been going through their heads when the made the call!

“We had to come back for this,” Carter said. “We couldn’t leave this team behind.”

Good move.

Build them all a statue. Build one in Athens. Build one in Pasadena. Build one in South Bend. And Atlanta?

  2. Damn Good Dawgs one and all. We will be talking about them and their decision to stay for the next 40 years.

Without them, we probably go 9-3, wind up playing in Orlando or Tampa, and finish ranked 15th or so.

If we can beat Alabama, then we will finally have a counterweight for when Herschel left early. That almost certainly cost us a national championship. These 4 seniors could gain us a completely unexpected one.

and every single one of them had a huge role in the game last night. it was pretty awesome to see and such a great moment for those guys.

Rewatched the 4th quarter right after the game it was all amazing.

So true. With those four decisions to unconditionally buy into what Kirby laid before them and return followed by the results that have come this year – no matter the outcome in Atlanta on Monday – they have helped change the direction of UGA football for the next several years given the impact winning at this level has on the insatiable recruiting Kirby and staff are doing.
    Damn Good Dawgs! 🌹

    HUMBLE YOURSELF.

Even at 48 years old, I’ll happily learn a few valuable things from those four grown young gentlemen.

    Glory, glory to ole’ Georgia.

Heroes have graced the field before you. Men with hearts, bodies and minds for which the entire Bulldog Nation can be justifiably proud. The tradition of unbridled excellence demonstrated by these individuals and many others spans more than a full century.
And now a new breed of Bulldawg stands ready to take the field of Battle. To assume the reigns of their Georgia forebearers. To continue that tradition. Understanding that there is no tradition more worthy of envy. No institution worthy of such loyalty as The University of Georgia.

As we prepare for another meeting in Atlanta let all the Bulldawg faithful rally behind the men who now wear the red and black with two words. Two simple words that express the sentiments of the entire Bulldawg Nation

Ward: Missed your game, is UCF legit or was Auburn uninterested? Do they have a legit claim to top 4?

Hope you don’t mind my answering that question Normaltown…I thought Auburn looked uninspired and UCF was out to prove to the world they are legit. That’s the easiest way to explain it. AU had little to inspire them, UCF had everything. Mostly Auburn’s offensive line was a no-show.

Very rarely do you see fairy-tale endings. A victory next Mon will be one.

Maybe we’re exorcising the demons who’ve dogged our program for too long & those 4 seniors certainly have led the way.

    UGA football heroes, no doubt.

I can’t wait to welcome them down here for the Senior Bowl in a few weeks.

As much as the coaching staff and everyone else associated with this team deserves admiration and praise, this group of returning seniors deserves it the most. While we all remember the day they told us they were coming back, and remember the elation that we felt, I doubt any of us ever really dreamed it would amount to this much…to SO much! And it is the gift that will keep on giving for years as they have nurtured this program into the beast it is becoming! THANK YOU for the bottom of my heart!!!

My God, I’m SO thankful Sony got the winning TD.

If his last play as a Dawg was fumbling on that scoop and score, it just would have been karmically WRONG

I hope younger kids see this and buy into the commitment. The thing that most impressed me after the game was in every interview the players talked about the team and not themselves. That is a cultural change.

I know those 4 announced they were returning in unison. But I’d add Dominick Sanders as a 5th returnee who deserves recognition. He’d be playing in the nfl now if he’d left early.

And he got an interception in the Rose Bowl that he can tell about and wow his grandkids.

He and the others will be remembered well as alums.

    • Put Ramsey in the mix. He’s kept us off a very worrisome QB bubble this year. They also serve who only stand and wait.

Just food for thought. Does anyone imagine that UF or Tenn could inspire that type of loyalty? No way!!!!!!! There’s just something about UGA that makes people care for life.

When they made the announcement last year, I thought they were crazy. What tremendous young men. My phone blew up after the game and all i could reply was #weeping. What a game, what an experience.

No matter what happens next week, this team has certainly outperformed any expectations I had of them at the beginning of the season. I figured our ceiling was winning the East and playing for the SEC Championship. I assumed that game would be against Alabama and I only hoped we would represent ourselves well and be competitive. I didn’t dare believe we were ready to win the SEC, move on to the playoffs and actually earn a spot in the National Championship. In 1980 we were a team of destiny. We felt it coming all season long. This year has been a total surprise to me. What a blast. Go Dawgs!

    • Hi DL,
I don’t get around much anymore. 🙂 Should be a great game. I honestly don’t know how good we are. Don’t know how good Clemson was either. I would have guess that we match up better with UGA than either OU or Clemson, but what do I know? We have probably used Clemson as a motivational tool since last year? Now what? Also, the Dawgs seem to have a little more of the “team of destiny” feel.

Enjoy these times! They are indeed sweet!

Bryant Denny, great and honest post, I as well don’t have a feel how next weeks game will play out(as I didn’t for the Ga -OK game ) but its been a great season for us lowly Ga fans to this point.

FWIW I heard some asshole on ESPN radio today saying it was going to be a mismatch and that Bama was going to run the Dawgs out of the stadium. I don’t think so.

I don’t think so. I’ve been watching highlights of our game all day. Our O line looked great. I know it’s not a fair comparison of Bama vs OU D lines but that’s the only tangible scenario that bothers me. I think Dawgs win a low scoring game. Bama O doesn’t scare me. I think it’s a good matchup.

I recorded the “film room” channel of the game with the coaches commenting on the game livetime. Watched it today. If you get a chance, it’s very informative and entertaining. If you get a chance let me know what you think.
