Today, in everybody’s broke

Fresh off a season in which four-loss LSU finished eighteenth nationally in scoring defense, twelfth in total defense and 28th in defensive yards per play, the Tigers are on the cusp of making defensive coordinator Dave Aranda college football’s first assistant to crack the $2 million/year salary barrier.  What’s the over/under on the number of others who will join him in the next five years?

And before you say SEC’s gonna SEC, note that UCF, in an act of financial self-gratification, is going to pay its assistant coaches and support staff bonuses totaling $325,000 as part of claiming a mythical national championship.

It’s a good thing there isn’t any money to pay the players.  That would be irresponsible, right?

Today, in being broke….SEC Shorts in the expense to Georgia fans this season. I thought it was pretty funny.

That’s unbelievable…that UCF is paying NC bonuses..and big ones. Give them credit, they’re putting their money where their mouth is when it comes to their silly claim. Auburn’s ex coaching staffs should put in a claim for the bonuses they missed.

That’s one side of it. The other is that Bethune Cookman’s football club is traveling to games in the Indian Express plane from “Major League.”

I would guess that ADGM is about to be writing some very large checks.

Tucker, Pittman, Chaney, and McGee all have to get more money.

Sherrer has to be replaced in this new market and we have to add a 10th coach.

Also we were already trailing by 1.5 million in assistant pay coming into this season.

And Coach Smart has to get paid.

I was told that when coach O was hired for a mere 3.5m at LSU, assistant coaches at major programs all did a solid fist pump, as they knew their salaries would only escalate further. After all, LSU would be paying coach O about 1m less than Miles, which would free up additional funds to pay/keep top assistants. And remember, AD Alleva is desperate to see coach O succeed, otherwise he’ll absolutely be out of a job as well. Sure enough, we now have a DC making 2.5m, which is utterly absurd, as just 10 years ago 2.5m would have put you near the top of the list as a top paid head coach in CFB. What’s next, special teams coaches making 1m? “His unit blocked 4 kicks last year with a 72% touch back rate…pay the man!!!”

Must be nice when to work in an industry where free labor gives you such latitude to pay everybody in an administrative or coaching role so handsomely.

If the state of Louisiana wasn’t broke with its 1.6 billion deficit before, once they fire the meathead known as “Coach O”, and pay the buyout of the defensive mastermind/Einstein a.k.a.,Dave Aranda, on November 24th, 2018 they should be well on their way to bankruptcy, at least.

The players get free peanut butter on their bagels! What else do they want?
