The Process works in mysterious ways, my friends.
Alabama associate AD for football Ed Marynowitz is not expected to return Nick Saban’s staff, sources tell FootballScoop.
Longtime NFL personnel executive Michael Lombardi tweeted Wednesday Marynowitz holds an offer to join Jon Gruden’s personnel department with the Oakland Raiders.
Sources have also told FootballScoop that Marynowitz holds an offer to join super agent Jimmy Sexton’s staff that he is also weighing.
Marynowitz holds a key off-the-field role for the Crimson Tide. As associate AD for football, he serves as a point person between the player personnel and football operations departments while also serving as the football program’s liaison with the athletic administration.
So Alabama has an athletic director on Saban’s staff, a guy who happens to have an offer to go work for Jimmy Sexton. I’ve got a feeling that on some level I cannot begin to comprehend, that would be an advantage for Saban, because, hell… why not?
I think I’m getting dizzy and need to lie down now.
There is no Alabama Way. Only The Saban Way.
No restrictions on how individuals or ‘rules’ affecting the program are managed through the university. This also extends into state and local governments and by extension into the business community. What he wants, he gets. What he gets, they enforce and cover up.
I don’t see Saban going anywhere. It’s good to be the king.

Which was the way things were with Bear Bryant, so it is the Bama Way.

Shula, Fran, Dubose, Curry, Perkins, (and even Stallings) did not command that kind of authority.
You are correct on similarities of The Bryant Way and The Saban Way, however.

Stalling was on his way. NCAA was a different era with his sanctions.
If Bama is rolling they have a coach taking over the athletic department. they do maximize their stints between probations.

And Kirby is beginning to command this type of authority…

Maybe the officiating gaffes are now seeming more obvious.

Make no mistake, it’s the Alabama Way. The only thing they told Saban he couldn’t do was fuck with the uniforms. Anything and everything else is on the table for discussion.
His wife Terry has her own staff just so she doesn’t have to interrupt him at any point in the day. Seriously.

Definitely not creepy at all.

The old SOB (and wise) was smart enough to pull his perennial starter for a look no one had seen and beat a very talented Dawg team. That was hat rabbit if I ever saw one. But……
Rope-a-dope might be a better analogy. Kirby be looking for that next time.
If Miss Terry don’t have to wash her own dishes, that’s OK with me. Mrs. Cowdog don’t wash dishes either.

Kirby if he already doesn’t have this will….

Living in alabama, a no brainer, football rules this state. Right now, Saban is king. Been like that since I was a kid, back in the 50’s. Bryant enjoyed carte blanche with the NCAA and the state.
