Another good day for Jimmy Sexton

If Boom is worth north of $4 million a year, escalating beyond $5 million, what’s Kirby Smart worth now?

Look out reserve fund… or Hartman Fund contributions.

I’m just gonna say it, I think Kirby Smart is probably due for a raise when you consider the kind of season they had.

A hell of a lot more. Add at least 1 million to Smart’s base salary and go from there, if he continues repeating this year’s results. Also consider the defensive coordinator, Tucker, and perhaps Chaney too. However, I myself, might give Chaney one more year to see what transpires before I did that. I am still not 100% sure about Chaney.

Boom is gotta be one of the most overrated coaches in the biz. He and the Cocks deserve each other.

He took a 3 win team to a 9 win team in two years at a program that has only won 9 games a handful of times. You may not like him, but he can coach. Hopefully Brian McClendon (he came from some shithole 🙂 will turn out to be a great OC. A lot of people think he has a lot of potential as a coach.

That’s fair. I don’t like him but it is too early to throw ashes on him. I also agree with others, he isn’t in demand enough to worry about protecting him so the money was probably not a good buy until he can prove he can sustain things. If I were a SC fan, I would have wanted to get better position coaches and coordinators with that money, SC is a tough gig to find success. I don’t see them much better over the next three years than they have been.

I was never a fan of Boom, but I gotta hand it to him for his job this year. Sackerlina was down and he got them to play together and made them probably as good as they could be this year. Not many coaches get the max out of their teams.

McClendon may turn out to be a good OC and probably a HC in the near future.

It’s hard to gauge his year. The wins over NCst, Mizzu and Mich were big. They lost to UK and TexA&M and had a 1pt win over LATech though. The loses to UGA and Clemson are understandable. It was a good thing Arky, UF and UT were down. Vand was Vandy. Certainly winning the games your supposed to, should count for something.

Boom may be the second best HC in the SEC East.

Start at $5M, per the market comps.

I don’t get it. The rule of supply and demand doesn’t exist in this market. I can’t believe that there are competitors for boom’s services at the salary he was making before.

Kirby should walk into McG’s office, write down a number, and then walk out without saying a word. Then he’ll really know if The Process 2.0 is fully installed or not.

Just out of curiosity, how much would you suggest upping the rewards for SEC East, SECC and Playoffs participation? Winning at least 12 games?
