Today, in getting the band back together

John Jancek now works for Mike Bobo.

“I’ve had the opportunity to coach on the same staff with John at Georgia, and I’ve coordinated offenses that have gone up against his defenses,” Bobo said in a statement.

That’s the first time I’ve heard of a coach hiring a guy to make his offense look good in practice.

Anyone else see Bobo tear up at the end of the coaches corner broadcast of the NC game. DGD

Bobo having trouble at the DC spot and settling for Jancek can’t be good but Bobo did just get an extension. Jancek nearly ruined Georgia’s ILBers after BVG left.

Does anyone have any idea what the feelings are about Bobo out there? He seems not to be lighting it up, and that’s too bad.

    • Bright Idea

He just got a 2 year contract extension. His defenses have been poor.

    • The other Doug

People out here don’t really care about CFB, so it’s easy for him to lay low when things go bad like they did at the end of the season. I think he is winning enough to keep the fans in a neutral position plus the athletic department knows it will be tough to replace him.

I imagine he had the dream of making it back to be the HC at UGA someday, The way things are working out with CKS will probably impact that vision. I would still love to see CMB greatly successful and at least back in this part of the country at a major program someday (preferably not SEC, though). But first he needs to put together some really good years at CSU.

    • I would rather see CSU make a dumb decision and fire him with a nice buyout and have Chaney leave Athens. Bobo’s scheme with Pittman’s offensive lines would be downright scary.

    VanGorder wasn’t available?

“This is his fifth stop as a defensive coordinator at the FBS level – including a stint at Georgia that overlapped with Bobo’s tenure in Athens from 2005-2009.”

Is it just me or does it read as though he was our DC from ’05 to ’09?

Jancek was the genius that wouldn’t start Rennie Curren until Richt ordered him to. He’s a real “good” evaluator of talent.
