Central Florida has been declared the 2017 national champions by… the Nevada Dental Association.
I shit you not.
At this rate, we might as well go old-school and just head back to the bowl era.

Aren’t they the source of one of Alabama’s 16?
Don’t dentists have the highest suicide rate of any profession? Bad decisions abound.
Doctors do- dentist at #3 lawyers at #12. Depends on your source. Doctors and lawyers have high incidences of alcohol abuse and cheating on a spouse. I’m familiar with the stats as I shared them with my two sons. One a newly minted lawdawg with plans to marry another lawdawg in 2019. And the the eldest graduating from med school this year and getting married this year.Hence the conversation. One of the many roles of a Dad. Along with the birds and the bees and 50 things every son should learn before high school.(they apply to daughters too LOl. )
You are blessed AHD! And that’s good, pro-active parenting. Best of luck to the fledglings as the leave the nest.

I’m probably 12 years older than your son and did the lawyer marries lawyer route. Another thing to explain to him is the challenge of 2 working parent families………regardless of the success each of them has, I find that it’s less likely than other “power couple” (for lack of a better phrase) unions to have one spouse quit to be a stay-at-home parent. What with the time/money/professional development already invested, coupled with ongoing prospects.
And if I’m being honest, this question will almost exclusively be placed in front of his wife—frankly, we need the additional income so it’s not really a tough decision, but I most definitely have to do things that my father never had to do raising us –whether around the house or on leave/flexibility for work—because men of that era were not expected to do those things. Same with my wife when compared to her mother. Everyone is now a jack of all trades, but the trick is to avoid also being the master of nothing. So there is a TON of first generation type stuff that they may or may not encounter. It’s all good, just pointing it out.
Great advice and thanks for taking the time to share it. Its quite an adventure for them. Two Double G Dawgs. We were fortunate to live in Athens and watch the two of them . Lot of law students at the house for pregame meetup and study groups and debates. You think it gets loud here at GTP. MY frig was raided and my green egg abused LOL but it was all worth it.
As an aside we didn’t start our family until we were both 34. My bride had a career and goals and so did I. One day she told me she wanted to start a family and for me to quit playing that damn “Nick of Time” tune by Bonnie Rait. 😉
Anyway two sons 15 months apart. Never looked back and loving the life experience. (Sigh) they grow up fast TB. Suck the marrow from the bone. It only happens once…… :-]
Do they have their own version of other questionable award processes? Like is there a Nevada Dental Association Oscar (a Toothy…maybe a Flossy)?
I kind of want to hear more.
Well I just declared myself national champion for 2016 AND 2017 so expect this to get even murkier.
And don’t forget to brush and floss daily.
They didn’t have to worry about pissing off the Bama fan base because it’s not like they’re going to take the business somewhere else.
Something happened here.
I thought Bama fans didn’t have any teeth, LOL
But they probably only got 4 out of 5 votes…
The Coweta County Georgia chapter of the NAFHO just named UGA as National Champs, with 100% of the members voting for the Dawgs.
This settles things. 16-team playoff must begin next season. I mean, these ain’t just dentists, they’re Nevada dentists.
Looking at the dentists’ ‘champs’ it is obvious they just hate the Southeast.
Yeah, I thought the same thing. Anytime an SEC team was involved, they voted against them. Though I heartily agree with their 2006 decision, much like 1990.
I hope they are better at dentistry than they are chiming in on college football. Yikes..
Apparently they have a sweet tooth for cupcakes
Loved it. Still laughing.
So if I question their pronouncement, does this make me an anti-dentite?
It makes you a dentite racist. Because Dentite Lives matter.
The Nevada Dental Association is seriously contemplating a 1/4 percent increase in the prime rate, as well as issuing additional sanctions on North Korea. They’ve also awarded themselves a Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction for their book, The Tooth and Its Many Wonders. Proceeds are expected to help finance a gambling casino in Reno to be called The Over(bite)/Under(bite).
We can withhold their Peabody until we get some quid pro quo.
Get one of Kirby’s staffers on this, STAT!
The William J. Le Petomane Memorial Gambling Casino for the Insane.
They don’t give out a trophy, but they do have a plaque. I guess we can’t brush aside the UCF title talk so easily. It really bites for Alabama fans to have to see their title disputed, but after having that feeling of having our teeth kicked in at the CFP title game I don’t really care who gets call national chomps.
I’ll show myself out.
If there is no trophy, do they install a crown?
All that means is that the presdent of the Nevada Dental Association is an UCF alum.
If dentists really knew anything about college football, more of them would be doing football blogs.
Rest assured, we are already in front of this.
For the 2018 season, we reached agreement to have the Nevada Dental Association on retainer.
“It is well accepted that dentists are among the most trusted professionals to give advice in society. The honorable precepts of the ADA’s Professional Code of Conduct are second to none, and the code mandates that dentists put the welfare of society ahead of self-interest. Dentists are highly educated individuals who understand the concepts of logical and ethical cerebration…”
Is this true?
I just came here to see if anybody caught “logical…cerebration” and “renumeration.” I guess that means recounting, lol.
Some people distinguish between education and training. In the medical area, it’s training, not necessarily education (i.e., magic formulas – if this, do this) I had a student who went to medical school and described for me a course she had taken taught not by an M.D. but a Ph.D. She expressed frustration with the course because “The guy kept taking time to explain why things worked the way they did”. Not what she and her classmates wanted to learn. So, are dentists well trained? Certainly. Well educated? Depends on your definition. (This statement has not been approved by my cousin who is a dentist.)
