    Here come the posts saying , “When they start giving students money for performing at halftime is when halftime as we know it is ruined! I will start not watching halftime and put my fingers in my ears and yell NANANANANA so I can’t hear halftime, either!”

    Big deal. When did Grayson Allen ever drain one from half court, under pressure, cash money on the line? And the kid who did can expect to share his bounty with the IRS. I find it difficult to muster up much sympathy for Grayson Allen as a victim of the oppressed masses. Nobody made him go get a 50K a year education from Duke, instead of playing D League or Europe or the Lithuanian league. If the market demands payment for players like him, you’d think Mark Cuban or some entrepreneurs would be setting up a pro league here. Ready supply of labor, apparently plenty of capital, find some entrepreneurial ability.

    Your mileage may vary. Start a pro minor league, pay the players, let colleges go back to being amateur enterprises ☺️

      ’81, you are spot on with your suggestion. Change the rules so all college teams are D-III. Minor league football and basketball will appear overnight.

        Funny, I went to high school in Greensboro and used to live and die by the ACC tournament, but I was just dumping on Allen for being like Baker Mayfield. Who, by the way, is probably going to Cleveland, heh.

    I understand his point, but Allen has been paid a lot of money (not just in tuition, gear, food, etc) for his ability on the court, but he has been paid plenty of money in regular monthly stipends that he is more than welcome to spend at Kroger. He also has a cost of living supplement that is straight cash…..whatever they call that “actual cost of attendance” bonus they started paying athletes a couple years back. Is he worth more? No argument from me that the Duke faithful think so….but to say he has been paid ZERO dollars is false.

      Btw. NCAA should have stripped unc of the past decade of trophies. If they can’t punish a program that blatantly doesn’t pay or educate their athletes then we have a problem. Maybe it should be a pro league…

      Thanks for the reminder. By coincidence, Mr. Soul cycled through on my playlist earlier today. To me, that song has the ultimate 60’s sound; fuzzy guitars, hippy lingo … quite a sign of the times back then. Neil did a haunting version (with his added harmonica) on his MTV Unplugged special/album. But it doesn’t come close to the original.
