    Boom watched the Rose Bowl.
He’s going to have OK’s offense!
Now all he needs to do is to get his QB to play like Baker Mayfied.

He didn’t say they were actually good, per se.

Thought Baker used his eligibility up?

Boom will start to rethink that pace real quick when his offense repeatedly goes 3 and out in 45 seconds and puts his defense back on the field before they’ve had a cup of Gatorade.

Another sec east team trying to run Heupel’s offense without Heupel? I’m assuming mizzou is gonna try to continue running Heupel’s offense, though I don’t see how they expect to do that under SOD. And I assume Helton at utk is gonna try to air it out and speed it up. And now boom is gonna go hurry up? I see a lot of blitzes in D’Andre Walker’s future.

Boom has got to be one of the most overrated coaches there is. Plus he’s a huge asshole. Thank God UGA didn’t hire him. I would have cashed in my chips if they did.

    • I wouldn’t say he’s overrated. People were laughing at SC when they hired him. It’s not like anybody thought it was a home run hire. Hard to say someone is overrated if nobody rates them highly to start with. He was who they went with after Fuentes, Herman, and Kirby all turned them down – he was Plan D at best.

I do think he’s a very good defensive mind. And I do think he learned some lessons from his time at UF (main lesson being that you can’t rely exclusively on special teams and defense, your offense has to be able to do SOMETHING). I think he’s an ok coach and they’ll beat us from time to time as the series with them has proven. But he was never gonna be our head coach, he had been mentioned as a possibility as our DC if he didn’t get a head coaching job, but he was never in the running to be our head coach.

Outside of October 2012, he was hot garbage at Florida. But he’s overachieved at USC, IMO.

  10. Isn’t BMac their OC now? Seems a little surprising being that he has no hurry up background at all.

I wonder if this is more of a pace of practice thing rather than a game strategy thing. I remember when Pruitt got to UGA and they changed the practice structure to where it was much more up tempo, a lot more reps, basically using that as conditioning as well. But that didn’t change the actual pace of our offensive game strategy.

  11. Hasn’t Columbia been the eternal home of preseason happy talk and the home of the August national champions?

I know the WWL is trying to find a school to be the Eastern foil to Georgia, and they think USCjr is the closest to that at this point.

I’ve NEVER seen a Will Muschamp offense like this

    That isn’t exactly saying much……….

FWIW, I spoke with a buddy who is a HS coach with a player being recruited by both schools, UGA and SC. He’s seen spring practice at both. One of these things is not like the other, he says. “Kirby ain’t playin’.”

    Count me in the minority.

SCU, on paper, is easily our toughest game during the 2018 regular season.

    • Not sure they’ll be tougher than our West opponents (it’s possible, just not sure I’d go there yet), but they’re easily our stiffest competition in the East. UF and the Vols will be tough in the future, but SC is the most complete team in the east behind us this year. They’re certainly good enough to beat us if we are off our game.

Agreed I don’t see them being tougher than Auburn or LSU.

A major change on offense for USe may even make UF the toughest in the East.

Yep, toughest East opponent maybe. They don’t have the talent or depth AU or LSU has, only tough because Willy Brice will be crazy because they should win their opener and be undefeated. Out offense will roll through them, doesn’t matter what they do on offense, imo. Think we win by 3 TDs based on the rosters currently, we won’t be looking ahead. Hope they continue to get the hype.

AU every other year just seems to suck. At least I hope they suck. I don’t care for AU. And I sort of forgot about LSU on my comment below. I still don’t think the talking gorilla is all that.

I think people are overvaluing LSU out of habit. Orgeron is in over his head.

Sackerlina will be pretty good, but I can’t see an offensive juggernaut. Like others said, if they really are going up-tempo, that will last exactly as long as the first few 3 and outs happen and leaves his defense gasping.

Boom did seem to get the most out of his team last year, so I’ll give him that. But his limit is similar to Sackerlina’s historical limit, being pretty good most of the time. That’s it.

Old school Oregon like from the 90’s? They only had relevancy for about a decade, and that was pretty recent.
