Florida is back, baby!

If by “back”, you mean reading something significant into what appears to have been a goofy spring game.

And there were big-time celebrations, from a game of “duck, duck, goose” to Franks punting a ball into the stands to Kenmore Gamble’s Scarface impression.

You can’t often take much schematically from spring games, which are at best a test of technique and football IQ. But you can learn about a culture, and Florida’s, toxic when Mullen arrived last November, is healing and laying a foundation for the future.

Look, I get the value in exorcising demons, but I don’t know how many games in October are won playing “duck, duck, goose” in the spring.

That game was such a mess. Hokey at best and the players appeared really uncomfortable staging their contrived fun-fest, but the defense still looks weak and the offense is in transition without proper personnel. I’d be shocked if they were over .500 in SEC play. Yay!

  2. Mullen certainly didn’t inspire the Jort Nation to show up in the arm pit. They tried like crazy with camera angles to mask the empty seats on Saturday.

Was it really a game of Duck Duck Goose, or a game of Grantham’s “Turn your back to the offense, do side straddle hops and point to who’s it”? Asking for a friend…

Maybe there’s another NCAA rule change coming and this works perfectly to prepare for it.

Right, you have to “call” the player who can make a fair catch inside the ten in the first half by “duck duck goose” (rock/paper/scissors to start the second) and the ball comes out to the 45 if he catches it.

They are looking at other options like NASCAR. If a team is leading at the end of any quarter, they get a quarter of a win in the standings.

Sounds like another coach that doesn’t realize fans will come if you give them the football fix they badly need this time of year. Mullen isn’t the only HC that fails to get this, but he may be the best example of how not to inspire fans to show support for their team by attending. It’s a big business gentlemen, we don’t need to treat it like kindergarten. If I were a FU fan I would be concerned about my multi-million dollar leader feeling this is the right approach. Doesn’t change my feeling that the Gators will be in the lower half of the SEC again this season.

I am amazed, at times, of the actions and decisions made by educated men, who have been monetarily successful in life.

I would like to say I was embarrassed for the Gators, but I wasn’t.
Mullen shows the personal charm and enthusiasm of Charlie Weis.

  7. Florida feels like a perennial 8-4 now. OL is not great. Defense lost a lot of talent early the last couple of years, and then they brought in master motivator/recruiter Grantham. They lack quality depth at most positions. They need a couple of recruiting classes to get to where South Carolina is right now.

The game of duck, duck, goose is an exercise in decision making, reaction time and short burst of speed. It is a great way to determine the best athletes. These guys will be sharp by the fall, bank on it.

Florida’s program is a mess… a far cry from the Spurrier and Meyer days. Passing the baton to Shannon couldn’t even inspire the Florida players to rededicate themselves to salvaging the season last year. May they continue down this path of lameness.

Sounds like the Turnover Trashcan has found a new home.

  11. Read the article and then the comments afterward. One comments said the “eye test” showed the defense is ahead of the offense. Well that’s usually the case. What I did not understand is the point total, if the defense is ahead. And the open concerns about the O-Line and yet the two defense gave up a combined 70+ points. Didn’t watch it. Really do not care. I think CDM will get them there; but I think that is two or three years down the road. We’ll see…

The only duck and goose the Gators need to worry about in Jacksonville next October is that even if they duck and cover the Dawgs are going through them like $hit through a goose.

Ya think Saban or Kirby have time for fuck-fuck games in the endzone during the Spring game?

Watched about 15 mins with an assorted group of eclectic SEC fans that included about 3-4 FU fans. I asked for their idea of how many fans were present considering that they never showed a full shot of any stands and guessed there were about 20k plus, but several differed well downward in crowd size (except one FU fan who erroneously thought the stands were filled on the sides and not in the upper decks). Arrived during the second half and asked their opinion of Emory Jones (he couldn’t be IDed by the FU fans except by color) and the crowd-overestimate FU fan said that he was “lights out” good while the others in attendance smiled. Overall, the FU fans were not informed and couldn’t discuss the outlook for their D except they thought they were going to be good, then I casually mentioned that 60 points or more had been scored in this Spring Game as an indicator. Had a beer and prepared to leave as they were waiting to watch the trailer A&M game with FU taunts to an FSU fan present that Jimbo would have a rude SEC awakening after being in that “weak” ACC for years.

The FU fans are deluded beyond Trump voters as to their team this year, with the exception of a few good FU friends who don’t want to even discuss it. As of the end of their Spring Game, we don’t have anything to worry about for this year’s game except when to get into Gawd-awful traffic to flee the scene.

Hope some of that delusion this year gets caught on film like the FU fans panned at last year’s game.

Not all Trump voters are deluded. He was 5,111,117th or worse of the 17 primary candidates for me. But I would have voted for Idi Amin or Charles Manson before putting that Redneck, Kleptocrat family back in our house.

While I get the sentiment, and I appreciate that not all “people who voted for Trump” are “Trump supporters,” I don’t know how the New York Kleptocrat family ever seemed like a better option.

Hang on! Turns out the third client on Cohen’s short list was Sean Hannity, the Hugh Freeze of journalists. The other two clients have the commonality of payoff money from the Ukraine through the RNC to Stormy. This story gets more like Ole Miss every day what with the payoffs and the secret hooker-ups for the HC. Wonder why Hannity is involved with a lawyer that is the go-between to pay off women just has been the case at Fox for their anchors?

Sorry , I couldn’t resist and now bare my knuckles for rapping, Bluto, but it was clumsily relevant to CFB.

How many of the “Credit Scam 9” return for Florida this year, and how much of an impact will they make?

Clumsy? No, it was just more insanity from the left side of the room. The delusion seems to be with some of you crazy sheep that are being led to slaughter by Master Soros…..Mr. Tear It Down, One World, puppeteer himself. You much have killed to many brain cells old timer. Even with the Russian collusion and corruption reports of your psycho-bitch candidate (and her severe emotional imbalance), even Trump comes off looking good. At least we know whose side he is on. Never liked the guy before, or now, but it is a blessing compared to what might have been. Sorry you are missing all this, must be some powerful stuff you are on. At least it doesn’t affect your football thinking.
