Hell hath no fury like a quarterback seeking an immediate transfer.

Man, Shea Patterson and his lawyer are working the media hardDennis Dodd reveals the contents of a nine-page letter Patterson wrote the NCAA in an attempt to justify being allowed to play immediately at his new home that begins, “I’m not going to hold anything back …”

I’m trying to feel the righteous indignation here, but my chuckling over this gem keeps getting in the way:

In his filing, Patterson said he found “a trustworthy, high-caliber coach” with “values, integrity and leadership qualities” in Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh.

**giggles**

Um… sorry.

“It doesn’t seem fair to me that the only thing standing in the way of Coach Freeze making $5 million a year at another school was the discovery that he wasn’t the trustworthy, straight-laced role model that he claimed to be,” Patterson states.

Bless your heart, Shea.  It just now dawned on you that a college football coach isn’t always 100% straight with others?

  1. John Denver is full of shit...

The tipping point will be when a coach with a pair plays said transfer anyway, regardless of rule. That will create a massive following and shine the light on the absurdity that coaches can jump ship but kids can’t.

I would guess the release of the letter indicates that the NCAA is signalling a, “No,” and the lawyer is trying to reset.

I am really surprised that the usual suspects on the NCAA bashing front have not made this a front-and-center issue – maybe they are waiting for the NCAA to reject his claim to turn Patterson into a poster child for transfer injustices?

    • I think it’s more likely that Patterson’s attorney thought Ole Miss should have heartily backed Patterson’s application… why, I don’t know. It’s not like OM controls the decision. It may just be that Mars has been in attack mode for so long, it’s just reflexive now.

  4. Freeze at least got the self-righteous message through on this kid during their short time together. Gimme a break…….he was the bell cow recruit of the 2nd suspicious recruiting class in 4 years under Freeze, not to mention in a class that signed 1 month after Ole Miss appeared in the Sugar Bowl for the first time since the end of slavery.

Yo, you really trying to pin this on the 20 year old who is figuring things out on the fly? Seems a bit unreasonable.
