I don’t know about you, but I can’t remember the last time a Georgia offensive lineman who started a game one season elected to transfer the following spring.
Depth and Pittman, baby. Best of luck to Pat Allen, too.

Anyone know where we are on the 85 limit? Seem to recall we were a couple over. That Kirby…he’s a sly one.

The article says we’re at 86 if all of the incoming class qualifies.

Maybe I read that on 24/7.

We are at 85 now – one current player is still on the team but no longer on scholly.

If Chigbu medically DQs we are at 85.

Everything I’ve read states the 86 number includes Chigbu as a medical DQ. So we’re still at least 1 over.

Trust me – we are at 85 now, as mentioned above.

Emerson says they’re at 87, pending the Chigbu decision.

I’m aware, but can assure you we are at 85.

Well, we just got one closer to the 85. Jaleel Laguins just announced he’s transferring.

Probably. It’ll be a better deal once they have a dedicated Atlanta/Georgia section.

Just think – when he committed to us coming out of Maryland, he was a huge get was our highest rated recruit in quite a while, and many expected him to come in and start almost right away. That alone really puts into perspective the OL recruiting under CMR vs. what Smart and co. have accomplished in a short period of time.

I guess he didn’t want to be a back up DL….
Pretty sure we could have found a better target to runoft if that’s what we we’re up to.

Yeah, I get that his playing outlook on the OL was limited, and I hate that anyone has to leave – he didn’t sound bitter, but he wasn’t happy, either – but it probably is better for him to go where he will get more PT. Not sure that we ‘ran him off’ but he was a long way from being ineffective.

When you get passed by multiple freshman at your position as a rising redshirt junior, I don’t think it takes a whole lot of persuasion by the coaching staff for the guy to see he might need to leave to find playing time. (assuming that playing time is what every athlete is after)

I don’t know man. Kirby has already culled most of the wheat from the chaff.

All the best to Pat Allen, but this is a very good sign about the present and future of our offensive line, especially the interior guys. Watching Ericson, Hill, and Mays on our current second string (with Salyer to arrive in June)…feeling pretty good.

Best of luck. I hope he finished or can finish his degree before leaving, or land somewhere where they accept all the credits. I can certainly understand leaving for playing time elsewhere. But he’s got to realize by now that he needs that sheepskin.

I wish him the best and I am curious if the previously-announced transfer restrictions (SEC, Miami, and GT) apply in his case.

I’ve never understood the Miami restriction.

Guess he saw the writing as did Sam Madden, another big body OL that did not work out for either.

Damn. I can’t believe Pat Allen started a game.
