Georgia has a new defensive lineman.
He’s a graduate transfer from Notre Dame (yes, he played against Georgia) who turned in a decent 2017 season. He should help address depth concerns on Georgia’s defensive line this season.
Now it’s roster management time for Kirby.

UPDATE: If you’re wondering about quality…
That should work.

UPDATE #2: One door opens, or something.
On Wednesday, Georgia picked up a commitment from graduate transfer Jay Hayes. It also lost a linebacker, as Jaleel Laguins announced that he would be transferring from the team.
Laguins, a former 4-star recruit and member of the 2016 recruiting class, announced his transfer via his Twitter page. This is the second day in a row a Georgia player has transferred as offensive lineman Pat Allen did so on Tuesday.
Best of luck to you, Jaleel.
Maybe we need to keep the roster in pencil for now.
Great news. I think Kirby wants to win now.

This is obviously connected to lying on Saban.

Pretty sure he was on that 2015 recruiting whiteboard.

Kirby Freeze negative recruiting against Brian Kelly now? Or either Mr. Hayes decided if you can’t beat ’em join ’em.

Kirby is incredible! Even saban should be envious.

OK. This really is impressive! Kirby takes NOTHING for granted when it comes to players. We all felt like we could be OK with the DL talent and numbers we have. This Smart guy leaves no stone unturned. Relentless!

Senator, don’t you remember one of your earlier posts? Pat Allen is transferring. Damn, Kirby didn’t waste any time filling that spot.

Still a couple over 85 I think.

Agreed: We were there before the swap with Laguins and Hayes. One more transfer from 85, the number we need to hit for 2018.

Thank you sir. FWIW I’m still digging the new Derek. One of my fav posters here.

Doesn’t take much to connect the dots between Pat Allen transfer and this…

Yikes. Kirby is relentless. I thought the main issue now was trimming the roster to 85. Kirby says: fuck that, I’ll worry about trimming the roster later. I like it.

Kirbs is going for the Cadillac; someone else can get the steak knives. As far as roster management? It doesn’t matter right now – I think we have until August and I have every confidence that Kirbs is aware of where the ifs and buts are.

I would bet that Kirby had scholarships lined up for Allen and Wiggins before they tweeted they were transferring. No clue on Gibbs… would imagine juco for one semester then try and go pro. Appears we are at 85 with the ability to make room for another gt if needed.

Anybody know what’s going on with him?

What is the story with Gibbs? I thought he was a HUGE get for our future defensive backfield.

Well Jaleel Lagu\uins is transferring. Kirby is processing. The thing is that these kids that are transferring were probably not gonna see the field. It is better for them and I wish them all the best wherever they go.

I imagine they are having “exit interviews” with the team and there is some candid discussion of likely playing time being had.

Can you imagine that interview if done well?
Athlete: Where do I stand on the current depth chart for my position?
Kirby: You are third string Will Linebacker.
Athlete: How many snaps ALL YEAR did the third string Will Linebacker get in 2017.
Kirby: 40
Athlete: Are there incoming Freshmen competing with me for the same spot?
Kirby: Yes…a 5 Star and a 4 Star.
Student: Thanks for the update.

And I also wish them the best, provided we don’t play their new team. In which case I wish them health and a loss.

No, this is more pleasant.
Hayes is a solid pickup at a position of need. Great job by KS stealing him from OU. The fact he was graded higher than TT is very telling, Big Trenton was another 5 star who fell short of expectations. Flashes? Yeah, but not the game changer so many, including me, expected. Not sure how the sharks at the next level view Thompson’s future, seems something has been off the past 15 months. Hope he gets his stuff together, lot of talent that never fully bloomed.

I was watching film clips of TT yesterday. ‘Flashes’ is a good term to use in defining him. He had some plays that were simply amazing, for a DL, showing speed and strength. He had many spectacular plays…then disappeared for many. Not sure what was going on with him but I hope he gets it worked out.

He had a better sophomore than junior year, I think injuries really limited him last year

Couple of thoughts here.
Jaleel should have never been as highly regarded as he was. Showed out at camps, yes, but watching him at Oconee was never WOWed by him.
As for TT, maybe not the overall impact some of you wanted, but man, that dude played thru injuries as impressively as any we have had. If he can stay healthy, (and that’s a big if with what is now a history of injury), he is gonna be a 3-4 round steal for some team.
