Gone, but not forgotten

This gave me a chuckle.

Mayfield told reporters that during the camp he is rooming with former Georgia Bulldogs running back Nick Chubb, who was selected by the Browns with the No. 35 overall pick in the second round of last month’s draft. The Sooners lost 54-48 to Georgia in overtime in the Rose Bowl. Mayfield has not forgotten that painful defeat.

Per Browns writer Patrick Maks, Mayfield thinks about that loss to Georgia “every night,” calling it a “sick joke” that he is roommates with Chubb during the camp. Mayfield says the two have yet to speak about the game, adding “There’s still a little salt in the wound,” per WKYCS sports reporter Pat Chiesa.

Glad to hear it.

Mayfield ought to be grateful it’s Chubb he’s rooming with.  If there’s anyone with the personality not to rub salt in the wound, it’s Chubb.

If there’s anyone who deserves a little salt in his wound, it’s Baker.

  2. Hmmm… Let’s say you just spent the number one pick in the draft on a smart and talented QB, that could be the next Brees or Manziel. So you room him with the guy who’s moral’s are beyond reproach and with an incredible work ethic. This might have been the smartest move the Browns have made in a decade.

The Browns would have been a lot smarter to settle on whichever QB they thought was their guy (Mayfield in this case) and then pick literally anyone else.

Sadly, Maker Bayfield is still seething over the past instead of focusing on his now. My guess is that he’s too prideful to learn from the humility and poise of Nick.

Chubb just needs to invite Davin for a weekend visit!

    Baker is one lucky bastard.

Maybe he will be successful in Cleveland after all.

I’m sure it grates on Baker, same as it would grate on Chubb if they put him in with a Bama player. Difference is, Baker can’t keep his mouth shut and show a little dignity.

Could be worse for him; he could be rooming with Bellamy… /evil grin

I’m not sure you guys are correct. Remember when Chubb was rehabbing, Sony said Chubb was joking around all the time. I think Chubb might have a playful sense of humor. I can envision him mumbling 54-48 in his “sleep”.

My friend who is a lawyer with some expertise in sports management and contacts/clients with NFL and NBA teams tells me it is common practice for the high draft picks to room together during rookie camp.

I’m buying and shipping a “Humble yo self” Tshirt to Chubb today. Davin would approve.
