Clean, old-fashioned dominance

This, my friends, never ever gets old.

That reminds me of a basketball game I attended at the old Omni between the two back in the late ‘8os/early ’90s.  Georgia was in the midst of a similar run and one of Durham’s teams went in there and upset one of Cremins’.  As we’re getting up to leave, a Dawg fan a few rows up — a classic looking gentleman garbed in beard and overalls — bellowed out in delight, “what do y’all want to play us in next, tiddlywinks”?  Not a single Tech fan met his eye.

And some of you want to do away with this.  Shame on you.

My only question about the series: is it more fun to beat the living H-E-double toothpicks out of them, a la 2002, or to give them hope and then snatch it away at the last second, a la 1997?

Diamond Dawgs are looking good this season and fun to watch. I was watching most of the games on the WatchESPN app but lately they have been behind the ESPN+ pay curtain since that new service launched. Big series with the Gators coming up. Hopefully they can keep the winning going and earn a top eight seed to host a Super Regional.

I’ve been watching a lot of Dawgs baseball this year too. They are fun to watch for the first time in a long time. We’ll see just how good we are in the next few weeks when we play Florida and Arkansas.

People are telling us it would be more fun if they could sweep Clemson.

      Wait…

Is this fact referenced anywhere in the ATL paper?

Yea I imagined that Harry Dawg guy with the bulldog painted on top of his bald head. Didn’t he pass away recently? I can’t remember

Mike “Big Dawg” Woods. My kids had their pics made with him on the road at Vandy. Dude was awesome. Yes, he passed away. I believe his son is doing the same thing in his honor.

Yeah, his name was Mike Woods. His son took over the tradition, though.

    • That guy in the overalls owed and sold a mess of his worthless mountain top land in North Georgia to a bunch of Buckhead lawyers and was a multi-millionaire driving around in a beat up Ford F-150. Oy vey. By the way, we’ll kick their ass in tiddlywinks too.

      • I just remembered…. shortly after Mr. Weyman C. Wannamaker uttered this very meaningful “tiddlywinks” quote some reprobate dawg fan dumped a beer on a female Tech fan who had tried to steal his hat…….or at least I know a guy who said he knew a guy who said he saw something “like” that. Has the statute of limitations run yet?

You failed to mention that the beer was poured on the Tech woman’s head in 10 degree weather. She had a bad day.

UGA is on the home stretch a big series with the #1 Gators, a single game against Presbyterian, and then a series against west leading and #7 Arkansas.

    AND
    Beat them in Women’s Basketball.
    Beat them in Softball.
    Beat them in Volleyball.
Beat them in Men’s Swimming and Diving.
Beat them in Women’s Swimming and Diving.
    Beat them in Men’s Tennis.
Beat them in Women’s Cross Country.

The only losses I could find were Women’s Tennis, Men’s Cross Country, and Men’s Golf. I have no idea about Track and Field because most of the Invitationals don’t do a good job of breaking down overall team standings, but a cursory glance appeared to have Georgia runners and throwers placing consistently higher than Tech runners and throwers.

I don’t want to end it, just don’t see the necessity of repeating every damned year. Especially as a home and home. UGA is locked into a “permanent” home and home with a program that has slipped to the level of a mid-major. No credit for winning it, and no interest in the “rivalry” outside of the state line. My only concern to changing it is, I have no confidence McDoofus would do much better in scheduling a replacement.

    • He would probably replace it with a permanent home game against Georgia State but price the ticket as if it were tech. Cupcakes for the reserve fund, baby!
