IPTAY in action

I admit that I’m something of a sucker for When Bad Things Happen To Rival Programs stories, so this piece about two former Clemson football players being arrested for robbery was a little catnip, as far as I’m concerned.  What’s curious about it — and what makes it worth sharing with you here — is presented as a sidelight.

According to documents and surveillance footage obtained from the Clemson Police Department, the three men pulled into a city parking deck on the afternoon of March 28, were recorded on camera exiting Fuller’s white Mercedes, pulled hoods over their heads, then allegedly proceeded to knock on the door of an apartment that police say belongs to a current Clemson football player.

An unidentified 20-year-old victim who says she is the teammate’s girlfriend told police she was napping in the back bedroom around 4 p.m. when she heard the knock. She answered the door and was allegedly robbed at gunpoint.

One suspect, she said, had a gun and went to the kitchen for cash in a cabinet above the refrigerator. She considered running outside but said she saw the third suspect by the stairs, whom she assumed was the lookout man.

Knowing her boyfriend kept a gun in the nightstand, the victim told police she ran to the back bedroom where she wrestled with the other suspect on the bed before he also took a large amount of cash from that nightstand. According to documents, the victim said she thought the men were football players.

To recap, Fuller, a “former Clemson running back who was set to graduate and transfer from the university this summer”, drives a Mercedes to the apartment of a current Clemson football player.  In the apartment, one of the robbers knows immediately where to head for cash stashed away hidden in the kitchen and another goes into a bedroom to take a large amount of cash.

Is it just me, or does any of that beg a certain question about what’s going on at Clemson?

What’s going on at Clemson? Same thing that’s always gone on:

    “I pay thugs all year.”

  5. CBS always come across as “such a great guy”, but when you really pay attention, he’s is as edgy as anyone else out there. And I believe he is fully capable of cutting corners. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him follow Saban and once there, then the stories to follow out of Clemson about things that went on while he was there. With that said; he is a superb recruiter and knows the game, so until proven differently – you got to respect that.

Pay players don’t pay players, I don’t really care.
But if you think players aren’t being paid already, I have some oceanfront property in Floyd co that I’d love to sell you.

Having gone to school at a small school in upstate SC I’ve always known a lot of Clemson fans including a lot of donors. I’ve always found it odd that you’re more likely than not to see Clemson fans wearing gear with the IPTAY logo than the actual Clemson one. Shows you where their priorities are I guess.

My only thought on Clemson: Keep giving the USCe rooster an annual laryngectomy.

Guns and lots of cash. Sounds like he may have a little business outside of football. When Josh Gordon was at Baylor, he claimed he was making up to $10,000.00 a month with his little pharmaceutical business. Maybe he sold a franchise to Clemson.

It would help to get a definition of “a large amount of cash”. Are we talking a couple handfuls of twenties?, a couple grand?, $20k?, more?

And who is dumb enough to answer the door before looking to see the guys on the other side are wearing hoods? If the view is obstructed, just ask ‘who’s there?’ Even here in the relatively safe haven of suburbia we check to see who’s at the door before opening it.

Another reason this doesn’t quite add up. Who’s to say she didn’t voluntarily let them in for a cut of the cash and point out exactly where the money was??? I don’t exactly go around telling acquaintances or even friends of mine for that matter exactly where I keep my valuables within my home.

Herschel’s black trans am came from a Clemson booster. Same one that gave The Frig payments on the reg.
Hell, he had pics of Herschel at his pool. The man had a 1981 National Championship ring.

Which begs the question, what in the hell did Georgia give to him?

If you want to see how well a program covers up for their athletes, just watch the athletes once they’ve left the program. Saban is the best ever at keeping the lid on corruption.
