“On the surface, this one might not seem believable.”

Now, why would a Gator fan writing for Saturday Down South say that?

… Georgia has a history of producing NFL running backs, while Florida’s most recent successful pro running back is Mike Gillislee. This isn’t about history, however, it’s about the 2018 roster.

Make no mistake, any SEC team (including UF) would love to have D’Andre Swift, Elijah Holyfield, Brian Herrien and Zamir White. Swift averaged an eye-popping 7.63 yards per carry as a freshman. A 5-star recruit, White was ranked the No. 1 running back in the 2018 recruiting class. But one ball-carrier tips the ground game in Florida’s favor: Jordan Scarlett.

Oh.

It’s all about a combination of cherry-picked stats, ignoring that Chubb and Michel sucked most of the oxygen out of the room for Georgia’s backs last season (understandably) and not mentioning either team’s offensive line.  With a stretch like that, I don’t think it’s just on the surface, brother.

Again, it’s amazing to watch how suddenly Florida folks have had to abandon their traditional air of superiority and grab on to an almost Stingtalk-like approach to assuring themselves.  Is it wrong to be looking forward to this year’s Cocktail Party as much as I am now?

Buried in the middle of all that BS is one salient factoid: FU is switching to the 3-4 this season because of Grantham. Do they have the personnel particularly at NG to pull that off? I’m betting not. 6-6 or 7-5 regular season playing the 3-4 without a true NG.

Can’t remember which game it was in Athens. But never forget when our defense was trying to change its defensive playcall to adjust to the ‘O on a particular play against an opponent that one day. The crowd was so loud, when the linebacker (forget who) turned to the DB’s for an adjustment….they could not hear him. He tried hand signals and the DB’s did not know what they meant….they couldn’t get the play changed & lined up that play.

This shat is taught on HS level……hope UF gets that same guy. It always looked like a Chinese fire drill with “3rd and Grantham” out there. Gonna be plenty of “Granthamitt” moments for UF imo.

I no longer read SDS. It’s way too biased for each school. I feel like the respective writers for each school don’t even try to be objective.

Scarlett??….reinstated after credit card fraud charges, hey??? Oh well, at least it wasn’t a laptop. Sounds like he & UF deserve each other.

Nonetheless, his 5.0 YPC for his college career is not exactly enough to scare anyone. Our least productive back averages more than that.

while I dont think Scarlett is as good as any of our RBs 5 ypc is very resectable….it is a 1st down every other carry

respectable indeed, but I presume he was comparing Scarlett to the Georgia running backs….which was my point.

the only Rb that could tip the scales in uf’s favor over UGA would be if they add Refrigerator Perry.

LOL!! …dude was a beast, glad he left when he did. He was a terror, as matter of fact…..that entire DL was, he gave the Dawgs & HW fits. That was a great reason rivalry about that time…..some of the most intense & competitive games I’ve ever seen.

Which kind of reminds me, the fellow above mentioned Scarlett would have a 1st down every other carry at a 5 YPC average …..it is not a given. But it did make me think of HW, he was probably one of the very few that could pull that off. His YPC were not much over 5 yards for his career. The only difference between him and most all, was that the D’ knew he was getting it & they still could not stop him. He was one of a kind.

Don’t think Scarlett could pull that off.

Obvious caveats about playing in more games not withstanding, we rushed for more than double the amount of yards and almost three times the touchdowns florida did in 2017. Its a pretty big difference.

Bumped his reptilian head.needs to factor the lack of a qb to provide some semblance of balance for the running game.

Also got to love the fact he mentioned all of their RB recruits but failed to mention James Cook – who was rated higher than any recruit they got at any position.

    Very Stingtalk like indeed.

That’s what stuck out to me, we have so many studs they completely missed mentioning one that would be the in-coming crowning jewel for them. I hope James gets the chance to put up some big numbers in Jax this year, it would be fitting for another Cook to thrash their D.

No doubt it’s a real gas to watch our program rise to national relevance, but, I’d be lying if I didn’t just brim with ecstasy running through the conference like they did last year.

So, senator, let’s count down every single day as the Jax approaches and celebrate freely. Damn gators.

I’m traveling to Gainesville right now to work there tomorrow. Rocking the G the next couple days.

No, No it is not: “wrong to be looking forward to this year’s Cocktail Party as much as I am now?”

Being a “Bitter, Little” fan, I think that article if properly forwarded to the weight room over Summer Workouts might get properly addressed during the World’s Largest Cocktail Party.

The writer overlooks the importance of an offensive line to the running game. I will put Wilson, Cleveland, Gilliard, Baker and Thomas, and their backups, against any O-line group UF trots out there.

Jordan Scarlett, a football player, a man barely on scholarship. “Gentlemen we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the ability to create the world’s first, ooh, he hit the Dawg Defense, this is now a search and recovery effort. Thoughts and prayers….thoughts and prayers.”

Scarlett? Seriously, against that slate of backs. Might give him an edge against Herrien just because of the north/south edge. And they omitted James Cook? I get we don’t know much about him in college yet, but they did raise Scarlett up….and no one knows much about him yet (outside the criminal justice system). Cook is a burner, will be interesting to see how we get him the ball in space.
