Musical palate cleanser, so let us not talk falsely now edition

I’ve currently got a Warren Zevon mix playing in the car, so I went looking for something to share this morning and found a cover I’ve never heard before, of his doing an acoustic “All Along The Watchtower”.  It’s pretty much what you’d expect, which is to say eerie and intense.

One of the best shows I’ve seen in Athens was Zevon and a guitar played at the Georgia Theater. He also played and recorded with REM as “The Hindu Love Gods”. That said if you read “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead” by his wife, Crystal, you will see how a musical genius can also be a horrible human being.

There were rumors that an “underground” concert in Athens happened when I was in Athens in 91 or 92 with the Hindu Love Gods. Makes me physically sick to think I missed it, so I choose to believe it was just a rumor.
Easily one of my favorite album/tape/CD/pick your format.

I saw Zevon at the Georgia Theater. I think it was the late 90s or early 2000s just before he was diagnosed with cancer. I’d only really know him as a guy who played piano and wrote great and quirky lyrics such as Excitable Boy. I was blow away by his talent (and energy) as he played keyboards, 12 string guitar, & sax. Just him & 1 other guy, and it was an incredible show.
