85 is just a number.

Another member of the 2018 class heads to juco.  Interesting academic issue for him.

Joseph was homeschooled early in his high school career and also had to transfer several times. Evans said that he will definitely spend at least the 2018 season at the junior college level.

A reminder to some of you who believe faulty academics are an indication of a character problem that life is not always black and white…

Also a reminder that there are plenty of places for kids to go to college and play football if they aren’t admitted in their school of choice should they fail to meet the entry requirements met by their proposed fellow students.

        Those are pretty stark choices.

Why have admission standards anywhere for fear of abandoning a poor kid?

Is there a sliding 40 yard dash/GPA calculus we can apply?

There is no right to go to UGA and there isn’t one for those who run and jump well.

        What are we, auburn?

There is nothing wrong with having admissions standards. One of the complaints we hear about college football is that no one cares whether they are actually students. If you’re gonna bother caring the first thing you have to establish is minimum qualifications to establish capacity and ability.

Those standards should actually be higher than they are. Plenty of JUCO’s around to welcome those that fall short.

        • LMAO. UGA has admission standards. It’s just that you object to them.

The reality is that, generally speaking, a school can take any kid it chooses to. It’s only in the athletic arena that minimum standards are mandatory for eligibility.

            Can’t imagine why?

Is it because alabama would take any sentient being with a heart beat if he could ball but would hand him a mop if he couldn’t?

Just a guess. It’s so difficult unlocking your riddles so that’s what I’m left with.

            • I like to think you’re smarter than this.

Schools bend their admission standards to take kids — because of connections, politics, money, legacies — every day, and nobody bats an eye over it. Personally speaking, I’ve seen it plenty of times at the two universities I’ve attended.

If you’re gonna go holier than thou on us, at least show some consistency.

If a kid at UGA in 100 level Chemistry is taking steroids does a Chemistry student at Florida give a good fuck?

Probably doesn’t care if he’s getting it from his prof.

Same result would not apply in football.

The rules in academics don’t apply to athletics just because they take place on the same campus.

UGA letting Dean Rusk’s great great grandson in on shaky academics without complaint has nothing whatsoever to do with having no minimum admission standards for athletes. They are apples and boulders.

One has meaning for competitors and one is meaningless to everyone.

                • So it’s okay to be part of “the indifferent, incapable and the disgruntled”, as long as you’re not an athlete. Got it.

                  Not saying its ok.

That’s a Bonerfart argument: “You like Roe v. Wade because you support dead babies!”

It’s just a little bit more complicated than that.

Wow. I guess I have my very own version of Godwin’s law specific to Derek. When he’s out of rational or intelligent things to say, which happens pretty quickly, he accuses someone of being similar to Hitler/Bonerfart. And thus ends the argument.

                  Precious.

“At 16, Joseph was reading at a fifth-grade level, and it was only a matter of months before he was scheduled to join the workforce.”

In his defense, he reads better than most UGa undergraduates I have met.

Yea, a stupid statement but funny. “Can I get into University of Georgia? The school has a 54% acceptance rate. Last year, 12,232 out of 22,694 applicants were admitted making University of Georgia a more competitive school to get into with a good chance of acceptance for qualifying applicants. Academically, it has very high requirements for admission test scores, generally admitting students who score in the top 20 percent. University of Georgia typically accepts and attracts “A-” average high school students. Only 44% of those admitted chose to enroll in the school.”

What’a really disappointing is that they think Independence CC is a good place to get your academics together. What a shithole area, and a terrible academic environment for anyone… not at the level of a good high school, even.

It’s amazing how we can reconcile “Animal House” archetypes on one band and “intellectual gated community” on the other.

As long as a university has the right supports in place, just about any motivated student can succeed in college.

I suppose this is further evidence Kirby’s scholly offer to Bennett was legit. This year’s off-season roster management is proving to be a little tougher than last year.

Why? I find him consistent. Much of the leftist policies he supports are based on the notion that the lowly masses are incapable of running their own lives, so they must depend on the elites who begrudgingly accept power in exchange for taking care of the proles.
