Today, in ringing endorsements

Hoo, boy.

SOD does bring a solid shower hygiene game with him, though.  So there’s that.

I’m guessing that every coach has a particular way that they like things to be done, but in general shouldn’t a receiver already know how to run routes by the time he makes it to the NFL?

I agree. Maybe they need their mom to teach them how to use the potty, too?

“Welcome to the fleet, Rex. Congrats on recently graduating boot camp. We expect you already know everything about how to do your job here on the Stennis. Wait, what? You don’t? You’re telling me you don’t know how to operate the sonar array? You want INSTRUCTION? WOULD YOU LIKE SOMEONE TO CHANGE YOUR DIAPER AS WELL???!”

I know you’re joking, but as a former sailor (MMN2, USS Carl Vinson), it wasn’t like that, at least for me. A lot of rates go to at least an “A” school first, then there’s a qualification process once you get to the ship. This NFL receiver’s gripe seems more like a guy rotating back to his 3rd sea duty and not knowing how to do a basic task, in my opinion.

You think college student-athletes already know the routes in an NFL system when they get to the NFL?

      Lol.

To know the plays, responsibilities and understanding defenses….no. But to actually know how to run a route….yes, they should. I mean what there hell is there to know ?? A flag route, a post route, a slant, a curl/hook, a fly route…how to run a 5 and out & etc. ???

As far as how to run a route goes….yes, they should know. It ain’t rocket science. But as far as knowing the other responsibilities of the position, a different story

Let’s just assume you guys are right and these guys should all know everything there is to know about running routes before they get to the NFL. If that’s the case, why the hell do NFL teams have wide receiver coaches?

Only 2 paragraphs there, it ain’t too hard understand. Slow down and read it again…it may be easier the second time around, hopefully.

I read it just fine, thanks. Do I need to repeat my question?

Nevermind – don’t bother. If there’s one thing you’re consistent with it’s being stupid, so I already know how this goes.

Okay, will try again. How to run a route is basic stuff, it is taught at HS level and below, they should already know how. Why do they need coaches??…. “to know the plays, responsibilities and understanding defenses”….and to add a few others, motivation, game planning, tweaking and etc.

They should already know how to run routes….hope this helps.

I think he initially came to Dallas as a TE coach. And was pushed into WR coach role by default. Cowboys are screaming (happily) about new WR coach Sanjay Lal. Ironically, new Cowboys TE coach is now Doug Nussmeier.

You guys, I’m starting to think Derek Dooley might not have been a great hire.

Can’t fathom what Odom was thinking when he hired SOD. I guess Schotty, Peace, and Weis weren’t available.

I think the only one that knew what was going on last year was Heupel and he’s gone. Odom is a defensive guy and their defense sucked. With SOD replacing Heupel, I think they’ll all be gone next year.
