That’s misplaced and a bit harsh. 1) Bobby knew how to play/coach championship basketball and 2) Leach has never been that big of a bully/jerk.
Bob learned at the feet of the master of tyrannical assholes: Woody Hayes.
Leach is eccentric in football and life. As long as he never coaches my football team he can be whatever he likes.

And you think Knight is completely normal??? They both are eccentric imo. They both can also be bullies. Look I like both, they are entertaining. Knight was one of the best imo. To me, that is the one of the biggest differences (coaches), you have that right. But there are definitely some similarities….

I just don’t recall leach saying/doing anything in the area of bullying that not normal within the authoritarian construct that coaches live within. I may have missed/forgot something but I don’t recall getting too bent out of shape about how he treated James’ kid for example.

Yep the free paper at Hotel breakfast was always USA Today. as the years went by more and more papers were left unread and unused as people were reading their phones for news, sports or whatever. Its hard to give away an actual News paper at this point.

I’m surprised there’s not more outrage over this. (Maybe there is up in Washington but this is the first I’ve heard of this.) He’s the highest paid employee of the University and by far the most visible, prominent voice that the University has. This isn’t like Saban or probably a lot of other coaches who are Republicans/conservatives. This is Alex Jones Infowars or Sean Hannity nutjob bullshit that he’s spouting.

Yeah but the WSU folks don’t like the idea of going 2-10 or 3-9 every year. Dude is certifiable but he has built a team that is usually over .500 and for them he might as well be winning the natty. We would have known that the football gods were smiling on us had the Vols hired him. Alas we just get to watch CJP and president of UT (Fulmer) go at it at some point.

If Wolken is a ‘nobody’ as Leach has claimed, then why on earth is he even bothering responding to him? Makes zero sense.
As for Wolken, he lost all credibility with me when it was uncovered that he offered to write puff pieces for UT’s coaching search/former AD (Currie) for continued access to the program. That, and his use of smiley faces and such in those emails.

A buddy of mine follows recruiting at UW. Knows some of the staff. He states “they like it when Leach goes off the end”, as he has done quite a few times at WSU. Handy recruiting tool.

Wolken’s column was spot on, though. Big schools aren’t going to want to deal with Leach being a weirdo. They’re just not. Getting the school president, the power players within the school, and the AD on the same page to hire him won’t happen at a big program and it’s due to stuff like posting what he did the other day.

I really wish all football coaches would shut up about politics, and that includes the ones who agree with my own views. The whole wide world has plenty of things for “eccentrics” like Leach to talk about, without adding yet another deeply uninformed voice to the political cacophony. College football is also an arena in which I am happy I can experience some fellowship with people I don’t agree with on politics or religion. Please don’t spoil it, coaches.

Only Leach has really been foolish enough to tread into those waters. Harbaugh dipped his toes into that pool, but he immediately sensed a chill in recruiting and rapidly went the other direction.
But this isn’t really politics form my vantage point. It’s a guy representing a research university blithely retweeting a known lie and a blatant piece of anti-American propaganda – and thinking he’s striking a blow for… what, exactly? It’s a question of basic civic literacy. Seeing someone like Leach flunk that test is disheartening. But I honestly don’t know why I am surprised anymore. The political revelation of the past 3 years has been the recognition that this stuff isn’t just the currency of remote AM stations and the backwaters of the Internet. Even people making millions of dollars a year want to believe this nonsense. So much for economic anxiety as an excuse..
