Awkward in Urnge

Former UT receiver Josh Smith had this to say about his deposed head coach:

“I’m just gonna be honest. I had multiple meetings with Coach Jones, and he knows how I feel. He was … I just never felt like he was himself. I always felt like he put a front on. I mean, he was in such a hard position that I probably would, too, honestly, so I can’t really say anything too bad about him. I do respect him for all the hard work he put into UT, but I honestly wanted the real him.

“I wanted just to be able to, like, laugh, and, like, have a conversation with him, and I just felt like I couldn’t ever do that, or anybody ever could. It was just always too serious, or we were in trouble…”

Booch a patent phony?  Who’da thunk it?

    Sgt Carter was good to poke fun at and fair game when he was a competitor’s HC, but now it’s kinda sad and I don’t get much pleasure out of seeing him maligned in his current position. He doesn’t deserve continued deprecation.

    Spurrier has earned his until Valhalla.

      I respectfully disagree. The obscene falling to the knees and arms skyward after the Hail Mary is proof to me that Booch sold his soul to the devil to win that game and he deserves every bit of ass biting that karma is willing to give him.

        Mehhh. That was a throwaway year for us. 18 years ago we were tearing down the goalposts for beating them.

        That burned me, too. Butch is about as spontaneous as a Kardashian. You could almost see the whells turn in his tiny brain: “The cameras are all on me now, so I’ll act like the grieving mom at a cartel button man’s funeral.” He can wash cars at Alabama until hell freezes over.

    From afar, Butch did always seem uncomfortable around pretty much anyone, and he always seemed focused on the wrong thing. For ex. he would constantly brag about their new juice bar for the players, and he actually put urine charts in the bathroom that showed what color your urine should be if you were properly hydrated. Really stupid stuff like that.
