Best of luck to you, Michael.

Some apparent closure, and expected, on the status of Georgia WR Michael Chigbu, who Kirby Smart said this spring was thinking of not playing football anymore: Chigbu is NOT listed in Georgia's new 2018 media guide. So it appears he has indeed called it quits.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Making room on the roster, upgrading. Reminds me of …..how I dare say it – Bama! Wish Chigbu the best, loved that last name.

Can you get a medical redshirt for a bad case of “dropsy?”

What’s the current totak scholarship/roster count? Curious if that opens room for Demetrius Robertson…I noticed Saban pushed a 2ND string LB out the door yesterday….

Good question…..but for some reason, I just can’t get excited about Robertson.

Don’t know if this helps, but here you go…too lazy to figure it out:

Total at the bottom is 86 with Chigbu so without it is down to 85. Are there any others who are not with the team?

On this list, Walthour and Joseph are going to JUCO. And you would have to think Trey Bishop’s status would be in doubt.

So 82-83, I assume the Hayes listed as a Senior is the Grad Transfer from ND.
Looking like Smart has room for Demetrius.
I am liking being near the limit.

My assumption is that Demetrius will pick us if doing so will make him eligible in 2018. If he left to be close to home and he wants a hardship exemption, it makes sense to go with UGA. If he can’t play until 2019 no matter what, who knows?
As far as being excited, that kid would be the best wr on the roster the moment he steps on campus.

If UGA has room he would be a great addition even if he has to wait a year. You have a very good idea of what you’re signing. You never know with a high school kid.
WRs are looking good for this year.

I really am not sure of this. While that seems logical because of what we saw from him in 2016, we saw that in an offense that flings it all over the field.
Personally, based on his development from game one to game 15 last year, and with another year doing it, I think Hardman is our best receiver.
With that said, add Robertson, and the trio of him, MH, and Godwin, is as good as any in America.

Hardman may have a higher ceiling but he’s still learning the position. He was a hs qb and a db for awhile. He’s getting there for sure. Robertson is a natural wr.
I think that without Robertson we’re gonna need Ridley to be what Wims was last year. As good and fast as Godwin and Hardman are, neither are no. 1 go to receivers. Ridley can be. Robertson is.
If we add Robertson to the mix we’re gonna keep DC’s up late at night.

You may be right…was surprised/disappointed when he chose California before. Probably why I can’t get too excited. I hate all the buildup, especially with a transfer….he more than likely knows already. Just make a decision already & announce.

It took me awhile to warm up to Jarvis for the same reason. No one likes being second choice. The good news is that the guys who were going to Cali and changed their minds: Roquan and Jarvis, have been beasts.

True (Jarvis/Roquan)…..just don’t like the “high maintenance” (seemingly). I was totally wrong on Roquan when he was being recruited (HM), he may have been the best linebacker we have ever had. My attitude will probably change once he commits (UGA) & proves himself. We certainly need all the talent we can get, he and Fromm could be deadly. Especially when you add him in the the remaining talent at WR.

We’ll see. I don’t know much about the kid other than I knew he wanted to go to Stanford and chose Cal because it was as close as he could get. I can’t blame him for that. I like seeing kids who prioritize the education aspect.
The kids extremely talented and he’ll have to work and run block to play. Lots of depth at that position. Gonna have to earn your snaps.

I watched Robertson in the UA All-American game, and to me, he and Mecole really stood out. But I wonder if DR isn’t bound for WVU. The former Cal coach is there, I think.

My thinking is that it comes down to eligibility in 2018. If he’s ineligible no matter who he picks I’d be surprised if he picks us. If he’s eligible for a hardship exemption allowing immediate eligibility to be close to home then it has to be us right?

I hope it’s Georgia regardless, but I’m sure Fish Fry could use someone to cut block on the perimeter and very once in a while run a fly pattern

You say roster status, all is see is Fromm has a new style of face mask. Po-tato, pa-tahto.

Also DeAngelo Gibbs is back listed on the roster. Kid could be a big plus at star. He was solid second teamer last year as a true until he train derailed. Not sure what that exactly was and don’t really need to know. Just glad he is back on track

I find it interesting that Woener is included. If I were to pick a TE for the media guide it would be Nauta and if I was looking at the receiving corps as a whole I would pick Godwin. I also would have included Baker.

My guess is they are represented on the inner covers (usually have a whole host of seniors on the inner part of the guides).

I don’t disagree with any of those picks, but where do you draw the line since you cannot have every deserving player? Watching how Kirby works, I would guess there is some reason to the selections he made, perhaps motivation for some, reward for others. Perhaps even a question why three offense and one defensive players. Hopefully it gets the job done, regardless of the rationale.

Ole Piss not in his final four , but his position coach at Cal that helped secure his commitment to Cal is now at Ole Piss . FYI
