At least he didn’t predict Jake Bentley would win the Heisman.

Now that Finebaum’s got a new deal with ESPN (sigh), it looks like we get the old PAWWWLLL!!! back.

Yeah, I know, on one level, who really gives a shit what a former Gamecock thinks about his team’s chances against the Dawgs, but I do think a steady drumbeat of this kind of stuff makes Kirby’s job keeping his team on its toes going into its first conference game on the road easier.  Thanks, PAWWWLLL!

SC has a great pair of WRs (Samuel & Edwards) & Bentley at QB. However their OL lost a pair of 4 year starters (C Knott & RG Helms) from a unit that had SIX games with 81 yards less or rushing (NC St, Ky, A&M, UGA, Clem & Mich). All their fans are getting excited about going 9-4 but they struggled to beat La. Tech, Tenn, Vandy & Fla. Also lost to Ky for the 4th year in a row. Let’s see how much Cocks fans are talking after Sept 8th

Man those people are right up there with Tennessee fans when it comes to delusion. When we beat them, yes when, they will say things like, “You got lucky! It was a fluke.” Etc. Those people are unbelieveable. I remember walking to the stadium in ‘ 13 and South Carolina fans were ganged up around the bookstore area talking about to all the Georgia fans walking by. One guy did the gator chimp thing at us for reasons that made sense only to him. They are a stupid fan base.

I hate Tennessee above all others but at least they have some historical basis for their attitude. I was in my teens when Sakerlina won their first ever bowl game, and I’m not THAT old.

  3. Are guys from Georgia the only ones who check their school bias at the door on the SEC Network? Any rational person who looks at the staffs and the rosters has to admit Georgia has an overwhelming talent advantage on both sides of the ball.

The Lamecocks were lucky to beat 10rc (it took a goal line stand to do it).

All he needs is a lisp, pair of glasses, a bunch of wrinkles, and some drool on the chin, and he’d be Lou Holth.

I wonder if Vegas will change the line on the game now? Georgia -14 tells me Mr. Potatohead may be one of the few who would “guarantee” a chicken win.

Exactly, the dumb cock makes FBomb look knowledgeable about football. He may be a Bama puppet but he knows UGA is a better football team than SC in 2018….again. Doesn’t mean SC couldn’t pull a big upset but Dawgs will be a double digit betting favorite that week. If this is an example of his analytical ability, or his objectivity, he is just another reason to avoid the show.

This is why I couldnt figure out why Pollack got so much grief for being honest, as that is his job as an analyst. These former players turned analysts who continue to be a pom-pom waver for their former school is really tiring, and I was hoping we were done with such nonsense when Lou Holtz called it quits a few years back.

You’ll notice, rarely are any concrete reasons given as to why they feel their team will win; instead it’s basically, ‘watch out UGA…the gamecocks are going to upset you in week 2!’…and that’s it.

Georgia is the fashionable/easy early upset pick every season. For a decade and a half we made it easy to pick us as the upset because we had so many inexplicable losses to inferior teams and looked bad doing it. Last season, more than one “expert” picked App State to upset us at home and quite a few picked Miss St to beat us. I really hope Kirby will turn that around.

I was thinking the same thing. It is hard as a Dawg to wrap my head around walking with a high level of confidence in our program. It is an adjustment for everyone and one I am fully hoping to get used to.

The last time I saw a “Guaranteed!” statement , an 11-yr old girl went sad for three years. That was done by the present coach at SC when he was beginning at FU.

If you’re going to beat these dawgs with a qb he’s going to have to be a bit more dynamic than Bentley. I don’t know how they keep him protected without a running game. I also don’t see how they have enough defense to keep things close.

I see a blow out. I think what we saw vs. UF last year will be a common occurance save at LSU and Auburn at home. Those games could be challenging.

I don’t buy the Red Stick hype. It’s an away game so that makes it a little tougher but they have been pretty unimpressive lately and the tired old narrative that it is so tough to play there cause, drunk cajuns, is pretty much nothing more than a cliche. When they are good it is tough to beat them there but I don’t see any reason to think they are very good. And why is everybody so high on Auburn? Stidham? Please.

Auburn is a really good team if they replace Kerryon. If that can’t replace him with one guy or by committee, they will be average.

They’ve got some really good receivers, a good throwing qb and a front seven that held their own and won vs. UGA and Alabama, and most of those guys are back.

LSU is all about: its down there and we know they have talent. Our trips to the SEC west have been disasters in both games under Smart. Also LSU’s biggest issue has been QB play and that can always get solved in the craziest ways. See Jake Fromm. I just think that game is a question mark until we see what they look like in September.

As far as the east, none of them match up in my view. They all set up for seal clubbings just based on talent.

If UF gets into a groove with a new qb maybe, but Fitzgerald was all the rage until he played us.

Florida’s probable best option at QB is a true freshman who is something of a project. I can’t see them beating Georgia, though they could certainly finish second in the East…for what little that’s worth.

Auburn lost 4 of 5 offensive linemen, all seniors. Remember, it all starts on the offensive line. Stidham isn’t a game changing qb and their O line made Kerryon look very good last season. Losing that much on the O line is going to hurt them bad.

Auburn’s problem will be replacing 4 starters on the OLine. Other than that this seems about right.
