Just tryin’ to help, Kirby.

This is getting amusing.  Apparently losing to Georgia in the postseason gives Big 12 coaches a unique perspective on the problems the Dawgs would face if they played in that conference full time.

Cue the Gary Patterson keen observation.

Cue my smart ass response.

I’m sure Kirby appreciates the advice.

  1. Does Patterson remember Kirby beat his team two years ago with a flawed team inferior to the one that beat Oklahoma?

I don’t think anyone in their right mind would claim we would come into the Big 12 and hold teams under 20 a game consistently. I also don’t think anyone wouldn’t think the Dawgs would be the Big 12 favorite right now if we played in that league.

I was about to ask the same question. “Outside of other things I’ve heard out there….”

Say what? Didn’t UGA just beat TCU barely more than a year ago? Has he got football alzheimer’s, where you can’t remember the losses?

The whole “if UGA was in the Big 12” is kind of stupid, especially from a strictly statistical perspective. Give up more yards per game? I guess, but so what? Would we win fewer games? Impossible to know, but no reason to assume that. Hurry up, regular season.

I said this back during the bowl games and the outstanding coaches film room channel ESPN had available, but Gary Patterson came off as a total blowhard who liked nothing else to hear himself talk. He definitely viewed himself as the smartest guy in the room, and while he did have some really good insight at times, most other times he was merely yapping to fill up the air while offering nothing of real substance.

For this latest quote of his, it’s definitely an instance of the latter with him.

This argument was tired a couple of weeks ago.

They think their offenses are better than ours. We think that our defenses could shut them down or at least could shut them down after a couple of years of changing personnel and schemes.

The stats don’t support the Big12 guys, but I’m just not offended by a coach who literally only says that his conference airs it out more and that you have to score more points to win. So he thinks his conference has better offenses. Why should we be offended by that?

I don’t think it is about being offended. It is about coaches and the media saying things without knowing if they are true or not. Or saying things that aren’t backed up statistically.

Not offended, just surprised they don’t seem to address all aspects of the game, just ones that may favor them. We aren’t geared for fun and gun offenses, but don’t seem to have issues prevailing when all factors are considered: mainly the final score. We beat him, then beat the team that represented their conference, what am I missing here?

    I’m more amused than offended.

Gary, Is 54 points enough to win in the big 12? It was when it counted against your best team on 1/1/18.

It appears from my back of the napkin calculations, that our Offense, the slow plodding SEC offense, scored 11 more points (7 of yours came from your D, dudes!) than your fast paced, wide open, Heisman trophy led, number one in America offense.

Looks like we have the O and the D to compete in the Big 12.

Just another instance of the wimpiest kid on the playground trying to punch the biggest kid in the nose… except he can’t reach high enough.

So all of these people have short memories. We beat them and then they talk. As long as we keep getting the W they can feel free to run their mouths. Everything in life is a trade off.
