“For the Vols, it may not be so tough to predict.”

I have to say if there’s one common ground for Alabama and Georgia fans, it’s contempt for Tennessee football.

…and all things Auburn. Bama’s universal contempt for Auburn is its most redeeming quality.

    • As much as I’d like to say that’s common, I have to admit Alabama’s Auburn hate burns with the heat of a thousand suns. We’re probably more at a level of a hundred.

Speak for yourself, your Excellence. To paraphrase Grizzard quoting Jim Minter about Tech, I wouldn’t pull for Auburn with both engines out on the team plane. (sorry, Ward). When you get right down to it, I hate almost everyone we play, and a few teams we used to play, and a couple of teams we played once or twice, and some teams we might play in the future. It’s possible I got issues.

I don’t care for Auburn. That much is clear.

Depends on who you’re talking to. I’d put my hatred of Auburn on par with bama’s.

A Georgia fan’s hatred does depend a lot on geography and generation.

In my formative years, we owned UF and GT and didn’t play UT much. Meanwhile, Auburn was hosing our fans, keeping it down home cuz,, stealing far too many players from Georgia and winning far too many of the games. And they ended our 23 games SEC winning streak in Athens.

Whether it’s the hoses, alums asserting illiteracy, cam newton, jet-gate, the women’s softball fiasco last summer, their “tradition” of rolling toomer’s corner being based on toilet humor (I can explain if anyone doesn’t know, just ask) which is both disgusting and sad, or a thousand other sins that would take too long to list, I hate them more than anyone else and I’ll never stop.

On one matter I agree with Auburn: I hate Harvey Updyke. But for decidedly different reasons.

When I heard about the trees I felt sorry for Auburn for like 15 seconds. I’ll never get that time back Harvey, you bastard!

Apart from the trees (I still think that was wrong), I’m with you. my hate rate goes:
          1. Nerds, forever and always.
          2. The Barn, copying every UGA tradition does since 1892.
          3. (tie) UF/UT my favorite meteor game.
          5. Son of Clemp, I would walk 100,000 miles… or kick.
          6. Notre Dame, NBC gets my eyeballs ever since they signed that deal. I hate watch them so hard.
          7. The rest of the SEC. I do not cheer for conference bowl wins.
          8. Various Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Southern Cal, [insert perennially overrated team], etc.

Of course it was wrong. However, (since no one has yet asked) do you know from where that rolling the trees at Tommer’s “tradition” comes?

In 1972, before the iron bowl game, an auburn player said that they would kick “the #2” out of #2 ranked Alabama. That was the luckiest win in auburn history. Quite a feat, I know. 2 blocked punts for TD’s later and they rolled toomer’s corner to celebrate their scatological victory.

And that’s the most Auburn thing ever. Shitty place, with shitty people, running a shitty program, celebrating with shit paper.

Agreed the Crocs are #1, the Nerds are yellow jackets, annoying until they sting you otherwise they just buzz around and annoy you.

Bama may have moved up to 2nd, oddly going to the Bama Washington playoff game wearing Crimson helped confirmed this, what a classless bunch of arrogant degenerates and I had club level seats.

UGA’s 2 rivals of importance are UF, followed by AU.

GT is the team we play to end the season.

This reply should never be interpreted as a defense or excuse for the despicable acts of Harvey Updike, but the trees were dying before he poisoned them. AU and/or the town used high pressure hoses similar to the ones turned on UGA fans to clear the tp out of the trees. Such stupidity damaged the bark on trees, often ripping it completely off limbs, so the trees were being mortally damaged already.

As a UGA student from the 90’s, it goes without saying that I hope UT never regains their footing ever again. That decade was brutal, and you’ve never met a more obnoxious fan base than UT fans when they are riding high. For you younger types, try to picture SCU fans after they win several SECC and a natty as well. Of course, that will never happen, but just try to imagine how insufferable they would be. That’s basically how UT fans were back then.

I certainly do. From 1980-86 or so??? Clempson was THE #1 rival.

The night game in 1991 will always be one of my favorite memories. The braves clinched right before KO, we did the chop, and won the game.

(Btw: I take credit for starting the “hey hey goodbye” in the 4th quarter. Fun times.)

Clemson. What a shithole. After all those close defensive contests of the 80’s I didn’t know what to expect when I ventured across the river Labor Day weekend 2003. The Clemson alumni were gracious and welcoming. “Too bad the Dogs have ten players suspended. Otherwise this might be a good game.” All that big talk about the Tiger’s superior conditioning. Redneck sidewalk fans with beards and overalls screaming in my face,”You in our house, muthafuckah!” Miserably hot. Packed in like sardines. Old folks and young drunks passing out from the heat. John Rocker sitting behind me not even sweating. Then the game. Third qtr Pollack doing jumping jacks as the Clemson Center is hauled off the field after puking on the ball. Fourth qtr being able to spread out and sit anywhere as all the delusional Tiger fans had enough. 30-0. In your house muthafuckah. The same alumni who’d been so nice earlier dropping their head and turning around when I walked by. I got my lunch money back that day, Bulldawg Bill.

  12. UF – they don’t acknowledge football was played before 1990. The game I love to win the most.
Barn – I was there in 1986 and in 1992, but the hate went ballistic in 2010.
Fech – I detest them. It’s the game I hate to lose most.
10rc – I hate them in a new sort of way. They aren’t on the same level as the Big 3.
Clempson – as an 80s student, no inter-conference rivalry was as hot as this
USCjr – they should be higher but their fans are so delusional and pitiful

Florida and it’s not even close. I hate everything about them, the colors, the mascot, Steve spurrier, Tim Tebow, Urban Meyer, the 90s, the jorts, the mullets, the hairgel, the white rimmed glasses, the jersey shore look, north Florida in general, the stupid fourth quarter thing, the two bits guy, the gator chomp, the swamp, all of it. Like the entire state of Florida, the gator people and fan base are just fucking weird. At least with the rest of the fanbases you can find some common ground but not with that bunch.

No quarter should be given nor expected in Jacksonville. I’m glad they beat the shit out of us every time they could because now we are the stronger program and the gap is widening and the top dawg understands the hate because he was born in it, molded by it, didn’t see winning until he was already a man. I have no doubt Kirby will light those bastards up like a pinball machine every time he gets an opportunity.

I buy a parking pass from the Jacksonville Bulldog Club so I won’t be giving money to a Florida business (i guess that is spending money in Florida, but it goes to a good cause.) I won’t even buy a concession at Everbank Field. That is how much I hate Florida.

Always and Forever: Florida. I’m 0-6 in Jacksonville. I’m never going back.
Auburn? We beat them so much, but when they win they always have to rub it in which makes the next game (and the next and the next) particularly sweet. I’m still disappointed with Coach Richt for not getting one more TD in 2012 so we would own the largest margin of victory in the series. “Dog crap” indeed.
Tech. They’re just so sad and pathetic, losing to them is the absolute worst. If we lose, they go straight to #2.
Tennessee. The 90’s man. But Mark Richt turned that series around with P-44 Haynes and for that I will forever love him.
South Carolina/Clemson. Look at the records: they’re the same team.

Wildcard: Alabama. I am so f*&^%n’ sick of Bama. I could put them #1 right now if I didn’t have UF so damn much.

This comment thread is inspirational. Thanks to all. I fully embrace the hatred and banning of all things orange. It covers all the bases in my house. I have two kids (16 and 10) and they are banned from anything orange on my property. I allow pumpkins at Halloween and maybe 4 times a year they crave orange juice. I can tell you this, in all honesty and humility, zero orange is allowed and none accepted outside of these things not associated with our neighbors in the south. Additionally, not one dime of my money, and that of my wife’s, is used to buy Gatorade. UF gets royalty fees for all sales of the gruel and it’s horse piss if you ask me. Powerade red and grape is all we get, noe exceptions.

I HATE Gators. I HATE vawls. I HATE WARPLAINSTIGLESMEN. PERIOD.

RE: ‘91 Clemson in Sanford. I was on the sidelines as a redcoat and just after halftime the field exits were blocked because halftime went over a bit. Us redcoats (trumpet section leader was I) just spread out and waived to the crowd to cheer and raise the noise level. We were throwing our hands and trumpets in the air to help bring the crowd noise up to fever pitch, and I swear, the team heard it. The return to the second half has always been one of the true points of pride for me as it was intensely emotional and such a great win for our team at the time. Powerful stuff.

I don’t hate UF because they beat our ass year after year for two decades. They earned my respect (which directly led to my Munsonian attitude).

And then there is AU. My irrational hatred of that cult has no bounds.
